Tangerang of Banten [B2B] - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said that the work from home (WFH) policy needs to be implemented to prevent negative impacts due to traffic congestion during Eid backflow.

"I have had a meeting with Jasamarga, indeed the return (Eid return flow) will be higher compared to departures. But I said that needs to be anticipated to prevent the bad impacts," said Budi after checking the readiness of the Eid return flow at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten, Friday (12/4).

According to him, the WFH policy needs to be implemented to prevent traffic congestion (traffic) of backflow vehicles at the same time.

"We´ve had a lot of holidays so far, if we only take holidays for Indonesia it won´t be productive, but this is the President´s prerogative to straighten out this WFH recommendation," he said as reported by Antara.

He admitted that his party had discussed the WFH recommendation and submitted it to President Jokowi. Budi hopes that the president can approve the proposal.

"Yesterday I decided on the recommendation (WFH) together with the Coordinating Minister and Kakorlantas," he said.

Budi added that the peak return flow for Eid 2024 is predicted to occur on H+4 or Sunday (14/4) and H+5 or Monday (15/4).

Nevertheless, his party also asked the people who had returned to their hometowns to return to Jakarta early before the peak of the Eid backflow.

"We can´t promise the day after tomorrow or Monday, because it will likely be busy, especially on land routes. "I recommend that you return home tomorrow, not Sunday or Monday," he said.

Budi also ensured that he had taken various steps and maximum efforts to serve the community during the Eid homecoming and returning transportation in all modes of transportation.

"In detail, we have prepared well how to deal with backflow. If it is by air or sea, it can be practically controlled," he said.
