London (B2B) - Novak Djokovic memenangi gelar Wimbledon keduanya dan gelar ketujuh turnamen Grand Slam setelah mencatat kemenangan 6-7 (7/9), 6-4, 7-6 (7/4), 5-7, 6-4 atas Roger Federer, Minggu, sekaligus memupus impian lawannya yang asal Swiss itu untuk menorehkan rekor gelar kedelapan pada turnamen itu.
Kemenangan petenis unggulan pertama asal Serbia itu juga mengakhiri laju tiga kekalahan beruntunnya pada pertandingan final turnamen Grand Slam. Namun petenis berusia 27 tahun itu harus bersusah payah mengakhiri pertandingan itu. Djokovic sempat unggul 5-2 pada set keempat dan kemudian satu "match point" namun akhirnya kehilangan set tersebut, sebelum kemudian memenangi set penentuan, seperti dilansir Yahoo Sports.
Kekalahan bagi petenis 32 tahun, Federer, yang memenangi gelar Grand Slam ke-17 dia di All England Club pada 2012, mengakhiri perburuannya untuk menjadi juara Wimbledon tertua pada Open Era dan memecahkan rekor tujuh gelar turnamen itu yang saat ini disandangnya bersama Pete Sampras.

Victory allowed the top seeded Serb, who was also the 2011 champion and runner-up last year, to end a run of three successive defeats in Grand Slam finals, but the 27-year-old struggled to get across the finish line, surrendering a 5-2 lead in the fourth set and then a match point.
Djokovic celebrated victory in typically eccentric style, kneeling on the Centre Court turf and munching on a few blades of grass just as he had done three years ago.
Defeat for 32-year-old Federer, who won the most recent of his 17 Grand Slam titles at the All England Club in 2012, ended his bid to become the oldest Wimbledon champion in the Open Era and of breaking the tie of seven titles he shares with Pete Sampras.
