JOSE Mourinho has haunted Stamford Bridge since the day he left and his presence was kicking around yesterday, inside the West Stand, in an executive suite named after the man they called Chopper.

Mourinho had made sure of this with a verbal grenade casually tossed towards the English game  from a distance of 800 miles away on Tuesday night.

After Real Madrid had slumped out of the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund at the Bernabeu, he spoke fondly of a place where he was still loved.

Chelsea supporters have been singing Mourinho´s name with added gusto ever since it became clear that Roman Abramovich was considering a reunion with the manager that he sacked in September 2007.

After five and a half years, and seven successors, Abramovich seems to have been persuaded that his best option may be to give it another go.

No official approach has been made but after Real´s defeat, the process will accelerate and no-one at the Bernabeu is expected to stand in his way.

Never go back, they say, but the Special One II would be a popular move in west London.

´Each one has his way,´ said  Benitez, with a roll of his eyes, when asked what he thought of Mourinho´s flirty remarks.

´My way is to concentrate on the next game, that´s it. It´s not my business.´
