Jakarta (B2B) - Rent seekers to take advantage of market structure driven up the price of garlic until it reaches Rp 80 thousand to Rp 100 thousand per kg. Though there is no problem on the demand and supply and import policy of the government.

"We see the reality, there is no problem in terms of supply and demand. How to price in a period less than a month can go up to 300 percent, can be explained from the structure of a dormant market. Due to the measures taken have been used by rent seekers," said Director of the Institute for Development of Economic and Finance (Indef) Enny Sri Hartati in Jakarta, Saturday (16/3).

In the event of constraints on supply and demand, not necessarily encourage market failure and its effects only on a decrease in productivity.

"That is, in terms of supply there is no problem, while in terms of demand is also no fluctuations," said Enny.

According Enny, onions economic price only Rp20 thousand per kg but when circulating in the market jumped to Rp60 thousand per kg at the hands of rent seekers. Although she believes the government will act in order to push prices back to normal, "could imagine how much profit the rogue practices."
