Lombok (B2B) - Menteri Pertanian Suswono mengharapkan Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) dapat meningkatkan produksi sapi hingga satu juta ekor untuk memenuhi kebutuhan daging secara nasional, sehingga dapat menekan impor sapi maupun daging sapi.
Keinginan Suswono dilontarkan saat mengunjungi Kelompok ternak Dusun Bun Mudrak, Desa Sukarara, Kecamatan Jonggat, Kabupaten Lombok Tengah, Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB).
"Tentu NTB dan NTT, selain Jawa Tengah dan Jawa Timur bisa menopang kebutuhan daging nasional. Kita lihat ini dengan semangat pijar, sampai daerah ini menjadi ikon satu juta sapi bisa terwujud," ujar Suswono di Lombok, Jumat (12/7).
Dengan terwujudnya satu juta sapi, Suswono meyakini akan mengurangi importasi sapi, baik sapi hidup maupun daging segar. "Kita mengimpor tiap tahun hampir 80 ribu ton sapi."

Suswono wishes expressed while visited livestock group Mudrak Bun Hamlet, Sukarara Village, Jonggat Subdistrict, Central Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
"Obviously, NTB and NTT, besides Central Java and East Java, can sustain the needs of the national meat. We look through the incandescent spirit, this area can realize the dream of being an icon of one million cows," said Suswono in Lombok, Friday (12/7) .
Through the realization of one million cows, Suswono believes will reduce the importation of cattle, both live cattle and fresh meat. "We import every year nearly 80 thousand tons of beef."
