PELATIH Liverpool Brendan Rodgers memuji duet lini depan Luis Suarez dan Daniel Sturridge saat the Reds menang 3-1 atas Sunderland.
Suarez yang tampil pertama kali di laga Liga Primer Inggris setelah menyelesaikan skorsing 10 laga akibat menggigit pemain belakang Chelsea Branislav Ivanovic mencetak dua gol ke gawang Sunderland berkat assist dari Sturridge.
Adapun Sturridge mencetak gol pembuka kemenangan Liverpool. Karenanya, Rodgers menyebut duet striker klub besutannya itu adalah salah satu yang terbaik di Liga Primer Inggris, seperti dilansir goal.com.
"Saya tidak yakin ada dua striker yang lebih baik dari mereka di Liga Primer Inggris," ujar Rodgers. "Kami melakukan sejumlah perubahan struktur agar kami bisa melakukan permainan passing lebih baik. Hasilnya, keduanya sukses memperlihatkan bahwa mereka adalah termasuk yang terbaik di Inggris."
Liverpool datang ke kandang Sunderland pada Minggu (29/9) setelah menderita kekalahan di laga Liga Primer Inggris dari Southampton dan tersingkir dari Piala Liga setelah menyerah dari Manchester United. Karenanya, Rodgers sangat puas melihat anak asuhannya sukses bangkit dengan penampilan gemilang di kandang the Black Cats.
"Saya sangat puas dengan hasil ini. Kami tampil apik namun gagal meraih kemenangan di Old Trafford. Hal yang berbeda terjadi di sini," pungkas Rdogers.
BRENDAN Rodgers has suggested Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge are the best strike partners in the Premier League following Liverpool´s 3-1 win at Sunderland.
Suarez was handed his first Premier League start since the completion of his 10-match ban on Sunday and grabbed two goals courtesy of assists from his fellow forward at the Stadium of Light.
Sturridge had earlier opened the scoring for the Merseyside club and Rodgers believes the pair´s performance proves they are among the best in the English top flight.
"I´m not sure there are two better [strikers] in the league," he said. "There are some wonderful partnerships around, you´ve got [Robin] van Persie and [Wayne] Rooney up there who´ve been outstanding.
Liverpool came into Sunday´s game having suffered a league defeat to Southampton and a Capital One Cup exit at the hands of Manchester United over the past week.
"I was delighted with the result. We had a really good performance but didn´t get anything in the week at Old Trafford," he added.
