Kondisi semakin buruk ketika para pemain asuhan Wenger ketika Koscielny memberi instruksi hanya beberapa menit kemudian, Andreas Weimann dijatuhkan di kotak penalti sehingga berbuah kartu kuning kedua.
Arsenal coba bangkit melalui Santi Cazorla pada menit-menit akhir laga, namun Brad Guzan berhasil menyelamatkan gawangnya, seperti dilansir metro.co.uk.
IT may be just the first day of the new Premier League season but there is already unrest at Arsenal, as fans booed their side off the pitch following their 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa.
Christian Benteke ensured the Gunners’ season got off to the worst possible start after the Belgian bagged a brace to hand his side victory, with new boy Antonio Luna adding a late third as chants of ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’ were heard loud and clear around the Emirates.
Despite Oliver Giroud giving Arsene Wenger’s side a sixth-minute lead Benteke, who signed a new four-year deal with the Villans this summer, struck in each half to give Paul Lambert’s young side a confidence-boosting three points.
The striker’s first goal came after 22 minutes after Wojciech Szczesny upended Gabriel Agbonlahor in the Gunners penalty box.
The goalkeeper looked to have made amends when he saved Benteke’s spot kick, before the Belgian headed home the rebound.
It was another penalty which gave the Villans the chance to take the lead in the 65th minute, as Agbonlahor again was adjudged to have been fouled – this time by Laurent Koscielny and Benteke made no mistake.
The day got worse for Wenger’s men when Koscielny was given his marching orders just minutes later, bringing down Andreas Weimann to pick up his second yellow card.
Arsenal could have pulled level through Santi Cazorla in the closing stages, but a fine save from Brad Guzan pushed the ball against the post.
And the result was put beyond doubt five minutes from time as summer signing Luna raced down the pitch to meet Weimann’s pass, before slotting home from 20 yards.
