EMOTIONAL Barack Obama wipes away tears as he struggles to get through a speech to thank his campaign staff.
The normally ice-cool US President began crying as he praised the staff and volunteers who helped him secure a historic second election victory on Tuesday night.
He took to the microphone at campaign HQ in Chicago the next day and almost immediately his voice cracked with emotion.
Soon tears were rolling down his cheeks as he told them: "I´m really proud of all of you."
Mr Obama said: "When I come here and I look at all of you what comes to mind is not that you guys actually remind me of myself it´s the fact that you are so much better than I was in so many ways - you´re smarter, you´re better organized, you´re more effective.
"I´m absolutely confident that all of you are going to do just amazing things in your lives. You’re just going to do great things.
"Even before last night´s results, I felt that the work I had done in running for office had come full circle because what you guys have done means that the work that I´m doing is important, and I´m really proud of that, and I´m really proud of all of you."
A video of the president´s teary performance was posted on YouTube by one of his supporters.
Mr Obama has since returned to Washington, where his inbox is already overflowing as he tackles the budget crisis and a deadlock in Congress.
