SALAH satu olah raga kebugaran yang tidak mengenal usia adalah renang. Tidak heran jika olah raga ini semakin digemari, terutama di kalangan ibu hamil.

Renang juga cocok bagi anak-anak usia dini untuk pertumbuhan tubuhnya. Tak heran banyak sekolah yang memasukkan kegiatan renang yang wajib diikuti oleh siswa siswinya. Tentu dengan maksud mengajak hidup sehat dan bugar.

Renang membuat seseorang selalu bergerak, mulai dari kaki hingga tangan tidak luput dari pergerakan. Begitu pula dengan system pernapasan yang semakin terjaga. Berikut manfaat dan gerakan yang perlu diperhatikan saat renang:

1. Semua otot tubuh bekerja
Saat renang, hampir semua otot dalam tubuh bekerja. Bukan lengan atau kaki saja, namun juga membantu mengembangkan bentuk bahu dan pinggul. Setiap bagian dari tubuh yang tenggelam dalam air akan bekerja dengan beberapa usaha terhadap tekanan air.

2. Ketahanan Jantung
Melalui renang, ketahanan jantung seseorang akan berkembang, sebab melalui gerakan dalam air dapat meningkatkan denyut jantung secara bertahap. Selain itu, juga membantu pergerakan darah melalui otot-otot dan juga membantu relaksasi.

3. Menjaga berat badan
Mengapung dan mengambang membantu untuk menjaga berat badan seseorang, sehingga memberinya kesempatan untuk latihan tanpa beban pada kakinya

4. Membakar kalori
Tubuh seseorang terbakar kalorinya selama masih latihan renang, apalagi jika renangnya dilakukan secara rutin.

5. Dampak psikologis
Meski terkesan tidak terlampau berkaitan justu lokasi dan fasilitas kolam renangnya mampu membawa manfaat secara psikologis dengan membiarkan orang bersantai di dalam air. Pikiran seseorang jadi fokus terhadap irama dalam latihannya.

Dalam ilmu pengetahuan disebutkan bersantai di dalam air menyebabkan efek relaksasi ion negatif setelah selama seminggu bekerja. Kolam renang yang baik dan bersih membantu dalam rileksasi pikiran seseorang.

6. Melancarkan persalinan
Belakangan ini ilmu medis kian berkembang. Renang (berendam) salah satu cara paling efektif membantu persalinan bagi ibu-ibu hamil.

ONE of the sports to maintain ones fitness, which is not limited to a certain age group, is swimming. It is no wonder why this type of sport is becoming increasingly popular, especially among pregnant women.

Swimming is also suitable for children of very young age, for their body growth. It no wonder that there a lot of schools which has included swimming activity as a compulsory activity that have to be undertaken by all of the students. Of course, for the purpose of committing to healthy living and physical fitness.     

Swimming makes a person to keep moving, starting from the feet and hands, all are not exempt from movement. Also for the respiratory system, that will increasingly be improved. These are the benefits and movements which have to be noted during swimming.  

1. Every body muscle works
During swimming almost every muscle in our body goes to work. Not only the arms and legs, but will also help to develop the shoulder and waist. Every part of our body submerged under water will work doing a number efforts against the pressure of water.      

2. Endurance of the heart
Through swimming, ones heart endurance can improve, because through movements in the water, it can gradually increase ones heartbeat. In addition, it can also facilitate the flow of blood through the muscles and also help to become relaxed.   

3. To maintain weight
Floating helps to maintain ones weight, therefore would give an opportunity to conduct a weightless training with out bearing a burden to the feet.  

4. Burning calories
Calories in ones body will burn, during swimming, even more so when swimming is conducted regularly.

5. Psychological effect
Although the impression presented is that it has no direct connection, but the location and the swimming pool facility are able to bring about benefits psychologically, by letting one relax in the water. Ones mind will be focused on the movement rhythm during training.             

In science this is called relaxation in the water, this will have a relaxing effect on the negative ions, after a full week’s work. A good and clean swimming pool will help relaxing ones mind.  

6. Will facilitate labor during birth
Recently medical science is more advanced. Swimming (soaking in water) is one of the most effective way in helping pregnant mothers during labor.
