Jakarta (B2B) - Pemerintah harus mengeluarkan dana sedikitnya Rp4 triliun untuk mengimpor jeruk guna kebutuhan konsumen dalam negeri. Pasalnya, hingga saat ini, Indonesia hingga saat ini masih kekurangan produksi jeruk. Pemerintah mengharapkan dukungan Kabupaten Karo sebagai penghasil jeruk terbesar harus dikembangkan secara profesional untuk mengurangi ketergantungan pada jeruk impor.
Penegasan tersebut dikemukakan Direktur Jenderal Hortikultura Kementerian Pertanian, Dr Ir Hasanuddin Ibrahim pencanangan gerakan pengendalian hama lalat buah di Desa Tanjung Barus Kecamatan Barusjahe, Kabupaten Karo, Sumatera Utara, Rabu (13/2).
"Kabupaten Karo merupakan penghasil jeruk tertinggi dan terluas produksinya. Karena itu, sangat sayang jika tidak dikembangkan secara professional," kata Hasanuddin Ibrahim melalui pernyataan tertulisnya.
Dirjen Holtikultura tidak menampik apabila saat ini banyak kendala yang dialami petani jeruk, khususnya di Tanah Karo. Semestinya hasil produksi 20 ton per hektar dapat diperoleh, namun akibat serangan hama dan penyakit, perolehan pendapatan perkapita petani berkurang tajam.
Serangan hama lalat buah beberapa tahun terakhir, merupakan salah satu faktor dominan penurunan produksi buah jeruk, bahkan pada tahun 2012 lalu kerugian yang dialami petani jeruk Karo mencapai Rp 1 triliun. Karenanya, dibutuhkan satu langkah strategis untuk menanggulangi masalah itu, hingga ekonomi masyarakat dapat terangkat kembali.
Kepala Bidang Produksi Dinas Pertanian Kabupaten Karo, Munar Ginting mengatakan pada 2012, Pemerintah Kabupaten Karo memperoleh bantuan 100 ribu unit Metil Eugenol (ME) Block, sebagai bahan perangkap lalat buah. Kemudian 2013 ini, Kementrian Pertanian mengalokasikan bantuan Rp 7,5 miliar untuk petani Karo dalam bentuk barang.
"Kita perkirakan Rp 7,5 miliar itu akan mencapai 500 ribu ME Block. Namun jumlah itu sesuai perhitungan kami, belumlah mencukupi kebutuhan petani. Karenanya masih harus ditampung Rp 4 miliar di APBD Kabupaten Karo. Program Dinas Pertanian Karo, setiap 2,5 bulan seluruh petani jeruk dibagikan ME Block untuk meminimalkan serangan lalat buah," kata Munar Ginting.

Therefore, must still be accommodated USD 4 billion in budget Karo Regency.
