Jakarta (B2B) - Kementerian Pertanian RI menaruh harapan besar pada lahan baku 114.000 hektar di Kabupaten Indramayu sebagai lahan sawah terluas di seluruh Indonesia, dan meskipun lahan persawahan di Provinsi Jawa Barat sempat diserang hama namun berhasil diatasi sehingga luas panen di Kecamatan Sukra mencapai 4.000 hektar padi pada Kamis (23/11).

Hal itu dikemukakan oleh Menteri Pertanian Andi Amran Sulaiman; Gubernur Jawa Barat, Ahmad Heryawan; dan Ketua Umum Himpunan Kerukunan Tani Indonesia (HKTI) Jenderal (Purn) Moeldoko di sela syukuran panen padi di Kecamatan Sukra, Indramayu.

"Meskipun Jawa Barat sempat terkena serangan hama, namun tetap bisa panen dengan baik. Ini penting sehingga kita dapat kembali mendeklarasikan bahwa kita telah swasembada padi, tidak ada lagi impor beras," kata Mentan.

Gubernur Aher mengharapkan Indramayu dapat mempertahankan lahan baku 114.000 hektar sebagai yang terluas di Indonesia. "Dulu hamparan lahan baku terluas di Karawang, tapi kini tidak lagi. Saat ini, Indramayu yang paling luas di Jawa Barat bahkan seluruh Indonesia."

Moeldoko mendorong petani Indramayu untuk memanfaatkan teknologi pertanian untuk meningkatkan produktivitas padi, sehingga dapat menopang target produksi padi 80,128 juta ton pada 2018.

Moeldoko encourages Indramayu farmers to apply agricultural technology to increase rice productivity, so it can support the rice production target of 80.128 million tons in 2018.
