Jakarta (B2B) - Presiden Joko Widodo dan Ibu Iriana mengunjungi Pulau Buru, Maluku, untuk mencanangkan penanaman padi dan peresmian Bendung Way Leman serta Penyerahan Kartu Keluarga Sejahtera (KKS), Kartu Indonesia Sehat (KIS) dan Kartu Indonesia Pintar (KIP), di Desa Wanareja, Gelar Way Apo, Kabupaten Buru.
“Saya melihat sawah di sini sangat subur, namun memang memerlukan penanganan yang intensif sehingga produksi beras di Provinsi Maluku ini, berasnya diambil dari Pulau Buru, bukan dari provinsi lain,” kata Presiden Jokowi.
Jokowi mengingatkan Bendung Way Leman yang diresmikannya merupakan bagian dari usaha untuk mencapai target Pulau Buru sebagai lumbung beras Maluku.
Setelah Bendung Way Leman ini selesai diharapkan bisa memperluas areal persawahan yang bisa diairi meningkat jadi 2,500 ha dengan intensitas tanam tiga kali setahun dan produktivitas meningkat hingga menjadi tujuh ton GKG per hektar.
Di Pulau Buru sendiri, sesuai laporan dari Gubernur Maluku, Said Assegaf , ada sekitar lebih dari 10 ribu hektar lahan pertanian.
Presiden Jokowi juga berjanji kembali dalam dua tahun lagi, untuk melihat hasil pertanian Pulau Buru. “Tolong undang Saya saat panen raya,” pinta Presiden Jokowi seperti dilansir Setkab.

“I saw the rice here is very fertile rice fields, however it does need intensive treatment, so that the production of rice in Maluku province, is the rice were taken from the island of Buru, not from other provinces,” President Widodo said.
He said that the inauguration Leman Way Dam is part of the efforts to achieve the target of Buru as the rice barn of Maluku.
Once the is completed Way Leman Dam, is expected to expand rice cultivation to be irrigated, increased to 2,500 ha, with cropping intensity three times a year and productivity increases of up to seven tons of dry milled grain per hectare.
In Buru Island itself, according to a report from the Governor of Maluku, Said Assegaf, there are about more than 10,000 hectares of agricultural land.
Widodo also promised to return in two years later, to see the results of the farm in the island of Buru. “Please invite me during the rice harvest,” President Widodo said.
