Karo, Sumut (B2B) - Petani jagung di Kabupaten Karo, Provinsi Sumatera Utara khususnya petani jagung di Desa Buluh Naman, Kecamatan Munte saat ini sedang happy lantaran meraih harga jual lokal tertinggi, Rp4.100 kadar air 23% dari hasil panen jagung pekan lalu.
"Harga jual jagung Rp4.100 adalah harga tertinggi dari harga lokal selama ini, dan untuk pemasaran jagung maka petani menjualnya ke pedagang pengumpul untuk dipasarkan ke Medan," kata Bangsawan Siregar, penyuluh BPP Pancar Jaya melalui pernyataan tertulis via Pusluhtan.
Harga menguntungkan petani tersebut lantaran kesigapan Bangsawan Siregar memanfaatkan aplikasi smartphone untuk komunikasi, informasi, dan memantau pergerakan harga jagung via market place, sehingga mendukung petani mendapat harga lokal tertinggi saat ini di tengah masa panen raya, yang cenderung harga jagung di tingkat petani anjlok di bawah Rp3.000 per kg.
"Penyuluh milenial adalah penyuluh yang bekerja cerdas memberdayakan teknologi internet untuk mendukung pekerjaannya sebagai garda terdepan pertanian nasional. Begitu pula dengan petani yang akrab dengan teknologi digital, layak disebut sebagai petani milenial," kata Kepala Pusluhtan, Siti Munifah di sela kegiatan ´temu teknis penyuluh dan petani milenial´ di Bandung Barat, Sabtu (16/2).
Bangsawan layak disebut penyuluh milenial, karena bekerja cerdas memanfaatkan smartphone untuk kepentingan petani binaannyadi Desa Buluh Naman, Kecamatan Munte yang telah panen jagung seluas 230 hektar dari potensi lahan 350 hektar.
Menurutnya, ada sekitar 50% lagi luas lahan jagung yang sedang proses panen, sekitar 200 hektar, varietas jagung bervariasi antara lain Pioneer 32, Bioseed 54, Bisi 18, Produktivitas maksimal rata-rata sembilan ton per hektar. (Lin)

"Millennial extensionists are those who work smartly to empower internet technology to support their work as the frontline of Indonesian agriculture. Likewise, farmers who are familiar with digital technology, deserve to be called millennial farmers," said the Director of Agricultural Extension Center or the Pusluhtan, Siti Munifah in Bandung, Saturday (February 16).
Siregar is worthy of being called a millennial extentionist, because he works smartly to use smartphones for the benefit of farmers in Buluh Naman village who has harvested corn covering an area of 230 hectares of potential 350 hectares of land.
