FILM The Hunger Games melambungkan popularitas pariwisata di Georgia, AS setelah para penggemar film tersebut berbondong-bondong datang mengunjungi kehidupan nyata di District 12.

Georgia menjadi lokasi idaman raksasa film Hollywood dengan membuat 158 film dan serial tivi selama 2014, dengan total biaya US$1,4 miliar. Film-film laris menginsipirasi biro perjalanan wisata mengemas lokasi syuting sebagai destinasi wisata. Negara bagian di AS tersebut menawarkan insentif pajak 30%
kepada perusahaan film.

Dampaknya, para penggemar film berbondong-bondong menuju Georgia untuk mengetahui lokasi pembuatan film dari para pahlawan mereka di layar perak.

Dengan masuknya film-film dan serial televisi berbiaya besar yang dibuat di negara bagian AS selama beberapa tahun terakhir menguntungkan pendapatan pajak, dan jumlah wisatawan pun meningkat, seperti dilansir MailOnline.

Film-film laris dibuat di Atlanta dan sekitarnya yang dijadwalkan akan dirilis pada 2015 antara lain The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 & 2, Taken 3, Insurgent (sekuel Divergent), dan Fast and Furious 7.

Serial laris The Walking Dead, The Vampire Diaries dan Constantine juga mendatangkan pemasukan jutaan dolar AS dan lapangan kerja untuk warga setempat.

Daya pikat utamanya adalah insentif pajak hingga 30 persen untuk produksi film berbiaya minimal US$500 ribu atau lebih, para kru film dan televisi pun berbondong-bondong ke negara bagian di selatan AS tersebut.

"Georgia menjadi lokasi pembuatan banyak film laris seperti The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, The Walking Dead, dan Insurgent - yang disukai para penggemar film," kata Lee Thomas, wakil komisaris dari Badan Film, Musik dan Digital Entertainment Georgia.

"Setelah selesai syuting film, film-film laris beredar dan serial televisi memikat para penggemarnya dari seluruh dunia untuk mengunjungi lokasi dari film-film favorit mereka."

Menurut Departemen Pembangunan Ekonomi Georgia, sampai saat ini 158 film dan serial televisi melakukan syutingnya di negara bagian tersebut selama tahun buku 2014, dengan total biaya US$1,4 miliar.

Perusahaan tur yang mengkhususkan diri pada wisata di lokasi syuting Hunger Games dan The Walking Dead meraup untung besar.

The Hunger Games Unofficial Fan Tour biayanya USD$100 per tiket untuk tur di Atlanta, termasuk The Goat Farm di West Midtown, yang merupakan kawasan pertambangan batubara dari Distrik 12 di film, dan The Swan House di Atlanta History Center, yang digunakan sebagai istana Presiden Snow dalam Catching Fire.

Pusat Sejarah Atlanta mencatat 5.000 pengunjung datang ke Capitol Tour sejak dimulai pada November 2013.

The Goat Farm juga merupakan lokasi syuting utama dari seri The Walking Dead, dan merupakan salah satu destinasi utama dari rute bus wisata the Big Zombie.

Kunjungan wisata, yang dikelola oleh Atlanta Movie Tours, berhasil mengundang lebih dari 10.000 wisatawan sejak paket wisatanya diluncurkan pada 2012.

Tiga-perempat dari pariwisata Newton County terkait dengan industri hiburan. Ribuan wisatawan datang semata-mata karena produksi seperti The Dukes of Hazzard,  In the Heat of the Night, Vampire Diaries dan film-film lain yang syuting di Covington.

Movie buffs are heading to Georgia in their droves to follow in the footsteps of their big screen heroes.

With a huge influx of film and television series being made in the U.S. state over the past few years thanks to a lucrative tax credit, a screen tourism boom has followed.

Blockbusters made in Atlanta and the surrounding counties that are slated for release in the next year include The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 & 2, Taken 3, Insurgent (sequel to Divergent), and Fast and Furious 7.

Hit series The Walking Dead, The Vampire Diaries and Constantine also bring in millions in revenue and employment to the state.

Attracted by a tax credit of up to 30 per cent for productions of USD$500,000 or more, film and television crews have flocked to the southern state.

´Georgia has been the backdrop for many high profile productions like The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, The Walking Dead, and Insurgent - all of which have a huge fan following,´ says Lee Thomas, deputy commissioner of the Georgia Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Office.

´After filming has wrapped, these iconic movies and television shows will continue to attract fans from all over the world who want to visit the locations from their favorite films and television shows.´

According to the Georgia Department of Economic Development, 158 feature film and TV productions have been shot during the 2014 financial year, with a combined production spend of USD$1.4billion.

Tour companies specialising in showing fans filming locations for Hunger Games and The Walking Dead do big business.

The Hunger Games Unofficial Fan Tour charges USD$100 per ticket to take fans on a tour of Atlanta, including The Goat Farm in West Midtown, which stood in for the coal mining community of District 12 in the films, and The Swan House at the Atlanta History Center, which was used for President Snow´s house in Catching Fire.

The Atlanta History Center has seen 5,000 people take the Capitol Tour since it began in November of 2013.

The Goat Farm is also a key filming location for AMC series The Walking Dead, and is one of the stops on the Big Zombie tours bus route.

The tours, run by Atlanta Movie Tours, have hosted more than 10,000 guests since launching in 2012.

Three-quarters of Newton County’s tourism is related to the entertainment industry. Thousands of tourists come solely because of productions like the The Dukes of Hazzard, In the Heat of the Night, Vampire Diaries and many others were shot in Covington.
