New York (B2B) - The New York Times yang tengah menghadapi lingkungan sulit bagi industri koran di era digital ini, Kamis pagi WIB mengumumkan rencananya menjual Boston Globe dan asset-assetnya di New England.

The Times menyatakan telah menyewa Evercore Partners untuk menjadi penasihatnya sekaligus mengelola proses penjualan The Boston Globe.

The Time berusaha merampingkan asset-assetnya dengan menawarkan brand paling bergengsi miliknya.

"Rencana kami menjual New England Media Group menunjukkan komitmen kami untuk mengkonsentrasikan fokus strategis dan investasi kami pada brand The New York Times serta jurnalismenya," kata Mark Thompson, Presiden dan CEO The New York Times Company seperti dikutip Bangkok Post.

Di samping The Globe, asset-asset lainnya yang akan dijual adalah Boston.com, The Worcester Telegram & Gazette, Telegram.com, dan GlobeDirect yang adalah perusahaan pemasaran The Globe. Yang juga dijual adalah 49% saham perusahaan pada Metro Boston.

New York - The New York Times, facing a difficult environment for newspapers in the digital age, announced Wednesday that it was reviving its efforts to sell The Boston Globe.

The Times said in a statement that it had hired Evercore Partners to advise the company and manage the sale process for The Boston Globe and other New England print and online assets.

The company aims to streamline its assets to promote its own marquee brand.

"Our plan to sell the New England Media Group demonstrates our commitment to concentrate our strategic focus and investment on The New York Times brand and its journalism," said Mark Thompson, president and chief executive of The New York Times Company (NYSE: NYT - news) .

Besides the Globe, the other assets up for sale are: Boston.com, The Worcester Telegram & Gazette, Telegram.com and GlobeDirect, the Globe's direct mail marketing company. Also included in the sale is the company's 49 percent interest in Metro Boston.
