Jakarta (B2B) - Direktur Jenderal Hortikultura di Kementerian Pertanian RI, Spudnik Sudjono mengatakan produksi cabai domestik pada Juni 2015 mengalami surplus, 99.685 ton sementara kebutuhan nasional sekitar 98.900 ton.

"Produksi cabai pada Juli 2015 mencapai 97.668 ton dan kebutuhan konsumen sekitar 97 ribu ton, selisih produksi dan kebutuhan masih tergolong surplus tapi volumenya masih membahayakan sehingga pedagang mudah mempermainkan harga," kata Spudnik Sudjono saat memantau operasi pasar yang dilakukan pihaknya bersama Perum Badan Urusan Logistik (Bulog) di Pasar Induk Kramat Jati, belum lama ini.

Tampak hadir Direktur Utama Perum Bulog, Djarot Kusumayakti; Direktur Bulog Fadzri Sentosa; Kepala Bagian Hubungan Masyarakat Kementan, Marihot H Panggabean; dan Kepala Bagian Perencanaan Direktorat Jenderal Hortikultura, Guru Daud.

Jakarta (B2B) - Indonesia Agriculture Ministry´s Director General of Horticulture, Spudnik Sudjono stated that chilli production in the country in June 2015 had a surplus, 99,685 tonnes while the national requirement about 98,900 tonnes.

"Production of chilli in July 2015 reached 97,668 tonnes and consumer needs about 97 thousand tons, the difference is still relatively surplus but the volume is still endanger so that traders can raise the prices," Mr Sudjono said while as he watched staples food bazaar who conducted by the ministry with Indonesian Logistics Agency in Kramat Jati Central Market here recently.

Also attended President Director of the agency, Djarot Kusumayakti; director of agency Fadzri Sentosa; Head of Public Relations of the ministry, Marihot H Panggabean; and the Head of Planning´s Directorate General of Horticulture, Guru Daud.

He added, it will set the cropping management in order to maintain the productivity of chili to control prices as consumer demand increases.

According to Mr Sudjono, chili production ever reached a surplus 500,000 tonnes a year, but in certain months are not able to balance the needs of consumers so the price is manipulated by the traders.

"For example, last year, the price of chili ever penetrated 100 thousand dollars per kg, due to consumer demand is higher than production," he said.
