Jakarta (B2B) - Pemerintah berencana tidak akan melakukan impor beras, karena tingkat produksi nasional masih sanggup memenuhi kebutuhan dalam negeri. Kementerian Pertanian menargetkan produksi padi pada 2013 sebesar 72,064 juta ton atau naik 4,5% dari produksi 2012.
"Tahun 2013 ini kita sudah sepakat tidak akan impor beras. Target tersebut dipatok berdasarkan keberhasilan pencapaian produksi padi tahun 2012, kata Wakil Menteri Pertanian, Rusman Heriawan usai membuka Gelar Teknologi Pengolahan Hasil Pertanian di Kementerian Pertanian, Rabu (24/4).
Menurutnya, target produksi tahun 2012 sebesar 67 juta ton, sedangkan produksinya melampaui target, dengan pencapaian 68 juta ton. Ketersediaan beras dalam negeri tahun ini berhasil surplus hingga 5,7 juta ton.
Sebelumnya diberitakan, Menteri Pertanian Suswono menyatakan optimismenya terhadap pencapaian surplus beras 10 juta ton apabila petani memanfaatkan lahan sawahnya dengan optimal, dengan menerapkan teknologi terapan pertanian secara tepat guna.
"Saya harapkan petani menerapkan teknologi dengan benar dan tepat guna sehingga bisa produksi beras mampu mencapai sembilan ton hingga 10 ton per hektar," kata Mentan Suswono di sela kegiatan panen raya oleh Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) di Karawang, Selasa (16/4).
Surplus produksi beras pada 2012 mencapai hampir enam juta ton sehingga tahun ini ditargetkan mampu menggapai program nasional surplus beras 10 juta ton pada 2013. Asumsinya, petani mampu menghasilkan sembilan hingga 10 ton beras per hektar.

Previously reported, Minister of Agriculture Suswono expressed his optimism towards attainment 10 million tons of surplus rice, if farmers can take advantage of his farm to the optimum, by applying appropriate technology applied to agriculture.
"I expect farmers to implement technology correctly and appropriately, so that rice production is able to reach nine tons to 10 tons per hectare," said Minister of Agriculture Suswono after the rice harvest by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) in Karawang, Tuesday (16/4).
Suswono added, surplus rice production in 2012 reached nearly six million tonnes, so this year the national program target to reach 10 million tons of rice surplus in 2013. The assumption, farmers are able to produce nine tons to 10 tons of rice per hectare.
