Jakarta (B2B) - Sengkarut beras impor dari Vietnam yang diperkirakan akan mengganggu harga beras lokal, pemerintah akan menghentikan sementara impor beras premium selama 2014.

"Pemerintah berniat menghentikan dulu impor beras premium, karena kekisruhan beras impor temuan Ditjen Bea dan Cukai," kata Dirjen Pengolahan dan Pemasaran Hasil Pertanian di Kementerian Pertanian, Yusni Emilia Harahap kepada pers di Jakarta, Jumat (14/2).

Menurutnya, pemerintah memberi peluang impor beras premium untuk kebutuhan khusus, tapi kasus beras impor Vietnam mendorong pemerintah untuk menghentikan sementara.

"Pemerintah menghentikan impor beras jenis Basmati, Japonika, dan Thai Hom Mali, tujuannya untuk mengatur tata niaga impor beras premium," ungkap Yusni.

Dia memastikan penghentian sementara impor beras premium hingga batas waktu tertentu. "Kalau berhenti permanen akan mengganggu kebutuhan restoran Jepang, dan yang butuh beras premium."

Sebelumnya diberitakan, Menteri Koordinator Perekonomian Hatta Rajasa mengatakan, sudah memberikan perintah kepada Menteri Pertanian (Suswono) untuk segera melakukan investigasi.

"Saya minta segera lakukan investigasi, dan tidak perlu berkonflik ria. Tidak perlu saling menyalahkan. Tidak perlu," ucap Hatta di kantornya, Jakarta, Kamis (30/1/2014).

Hatta menambahkan, saat ini sudah dilakukan pengecekan terhadap izin impor beras mulai dari Kementerian Pertanian dan Kementerian Perdagangan. Menurut Hatta dalam pengecekan ini semua dilakukan secara profesional.

"Dari kementerian pertanian, sudah saya tanyakan. Memang memberikan rekomendasi untuk beras tertentu. Itu sudah betul, selama ini juga begitu. Dari Kementerian Perdagangan, sudah betul juga. Untuk memberikan kepada perusahaan tertentu, untuk mengimpor beras tertentu juga," jelasnya.

"Pertanyaan kita sekarang, mengapa di lapangan, ada beras medium? Ini yang saya minta diselidiki. Enggak perlu untuk saling menyalahkan," tambah dia.

"The government will suspend imports of premium rice, because Vietnamese rice crisis," Yusni Emilia Harahap, director general of the processing and marketing of agricultural products in agriculture ministry told reporters in Jakarta, Friday (14/2).

According to her, the government gives premium rice import opportunities for special needs, but the problem of Vietnamese rice force the government to stop temporarily.

"The government suspended imports Basmati, Japonica, and Thai Hom Mali, in order to regulate rice imports premium trading system," said Yusni.

He ensures the suspension of premium rice imports only temporary. "Japanese restaurant supplies will be disrupt if permanent stop."

Hatta Rajasa, Indonesian Chief Economic Minister has ordered the Trade Ministry and the Agriculture Ministry to investigate the illegal entry into Indonesia of Vietnamese rice.

"I have met with Agriculture Minister Suswono and the trade deputy minister, asking them to investigate the case soon," Hatta Rajasa said here on Thursday.

The minister added that there were indications of abuse of import permits. Based upon the permits, the importers were not allowed to import medium category rice.

"From the aspect of agriculture and trade, there is nothing wrong with it. The licenses have correctly been issued. But the importers who used the licenses might have abused them," Hatta stated.

He noted that the licenses should be used only for importing certain types of rice.

The minister was responding to a report on illegal rice imports discovered at the Cipinang wholesale market, East Jakarta, noting that the price of the illegal rice was less expensive than the price of farmers rice.

It was also reported that the Vietnamese rice was brought into the country using legal documents from the directorate general of external trade of the Ministry of Trade.
