"Rice production in January from 600 thousand hectares of rice fields, and 1.3 million hectares of rice fields across Indonesia will harvest this February. Say for example, two million hectares of production multiplied by six to seven tons per hectare, which means that there are 12 million tons of grain. Now the rice supplies in Bulog about 1.7 million tons. That´s not counting of inventory in the barn, in the market, and traders warehouses," Indonesian Agriculture Minister, Amran Sulaiman told the press here in his office on Friday afternoon.

When asked by reporters about the rice price increases to IDR 11,000 per kg, he claimed to have called the Trade Minister, Rahmat Gobel.
