Jakarta (B2B) - Pemerintah terus mendorong pelaksanaan sertifikasi Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil System (ISPO) bagi perusahaan sawit di Indonesia. Pada tahun 2013 ini pemerintah menargetkan 200 perusahaan bisa mendapatkan sertifikat tersebut.
"Sertifikasi ISPO merupakan bukti nyata bahwa pengembangan kelapa sawit telah mengikuti kaidah-kaidah pembangunan berkelanjutan. Dengan adanya sertifikat tersebut, maka sebuah perusahaan sawit telah menjalankan proses produksi dengan tidak hanya memperhatikan faktor ekonomi, tetapi juga faktor ekologi dan sosial," kata Menteri Pertanian Suswono kepada pers setelah membuka International Conference and Exhibition on Palm Oil 2013 (ICE-PO 2013), di JCC Senayan, Jakarta, Selasa siang (7/5).
Menurut Suswono, pemerintah berupaya menyatukan komitmen para pihak terkait agar bisa sukses melaksanakan sertifikasi kebun kelapa sawit yang ramah lingkungan. Selain itu, dengan sertifikat ISPO pemerintah berharap kualitas produksi sawit Indonesia bisa ditingkatkan sehingga dapat bersaing dengan pasar dunia.
“Sertifikat ISPO ini bersifat mandatory atau wajib bagi setiap perusahaan sawit di Indonesia. Hal ini berbeda dengan RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) yang sifatnya untuk memenuhi permintaan pasar dan bersifat voluntary,” ungkapnya lagi.
Terkait perkembangan industri minyak sawit dalam negeri, saat ini Indonesia menjadi negara penghasil terbesar minyak sawit (Crude Palm Oil/CPO) sekaligus menjadi konsumen CPO tertiggi.
“Menurut catatan Dewan Minyak Sawit Indonesia (DMSI), tahun ini Indonesia akan menjadi konsumen minyak sawit terbesar di dunia dengan konsumsi CPO sekitar 9,2 juta ton. Hal tersebut sebagai imbas meningkatnya industri hilir seperti pabrik biodiesel dan oleokimia yang mampu menyerap jutaan ton CPO dan palm kernel oil (PKO) sebagai bahan baku,” kata Ketua Umum Dewan Minyak Sawit Indonesia (DMSI), Derom Bangun.
Berdasarkan catatan DMSI, produksi sawit Indonesia pada 2013 diperkirakan 28 juta ton, sekitar 9,2 juta ton digunakan untuk konsumsi dalam negeri dan sisanya sekitar 19 juta ton akan diekspor terutama ke India, China, dan Uni Eropa.

He said the government´s commitment seeks to unite the parties concerned in order to carry out the certification of sustainable palm oil. In addition, the certificate of ISPO, the government hopes to increase the quality of the Indonesian oil production so as to compete with the world market.
"The ISPO certificate is mandatory or obligatory for any palm oil company in Indonesia. This is in contrast with the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) that are to meet the market demand and voluntary, "he said again.
Related to the development of palm oil industry in the country, while Indonesia is the country of manufacture (Crude Palm Oil/CPO), as well as the highest CPO consumers.
