Jakarta (B2B) - Pelaku usaha kelapa sawit menyambut baik penyerahan perdana sertifikasi Indonesia Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO). Hal itu membuktikan bahwa industri kelapa sawit Indonesia telah diakui ramah lingkungan dan memenuhi syarat-syarat sebagai sebuah usaha yang berkelanjutan.
"Sertifikasi ISPO ini sekaligus menepis tudingan bahwa industri kelapa sawit Indonesia tidak ramah lingkungan," kata Sekretaris Jenderal Gabungan Pengusaha Kelapa Sawit Indonesia (Gapki) Joko Supriyono di sela penyerahan Sertifikat ISPO oleh Menteri Pertanian Suswono kepada 10 perusahaan yang telah memenuhi standar sertifikasi ISPO di Jakarta, Jumat (8/3).
Joko Supriyono mengharapkan, dengan Sertifikat ISPO ini daya saing industri kelapa sawit Indonesia semakin meningkat terutama di pasar dunia.
Direktur Jenderal Perkebunan Kementerian Pertanian, Gamal Nasir mengatakan Sertifikasi ISPO ini diberikan kepada perusahaan yang telah memenuhi persyaratan ISPO. Sistem yang diberlakukan pemerintah RI terhadap pengelolaan perkebunan kelapa sawit yang berkelanjutan.
"ISPO ini ditetapkan melalui Peraturan Menteri Pertanian Nomor 19/Permentan/OT.140/2/2011 tanggal 29 Maret 2011 tentang Pedoman Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit Berkelanjutan Indonesia. Pelaksanaannya bersifat wajib atau mandatory," ungkap Gamal Nasir di tempat yang sama.
Tujuannya, kata Dirjen Perkebunan, untuk meningkatkan kesadaran tentang pentingnya memproduksi minyak kelapa sawit lestari, meningkatkan daya saing minyak sawit Indonesia di pasar internasional, mendukung pengurangan emisi gas rumah kaca dan mendukung komitmen multilateral Indonesia di COP Copenhagen dan Lol Indonesia-Norwegia.
