Kuala Lumpur (B2B) - Pesawat Malaysia Airlines MH370 diduga terbang dengan kecepatan lebih tinggi dari perkiraan semula berdasar kajian data mesin yang dilakukan Boeing sehingga kemungkinan pesawat itu tidak bisa terbang sejauh perkiraan awal.

"Ada indikasi MH370 terbang dengan kecepatan lebih tinggi dari perkiraan semula, yang artinya bahan bakar lebih cepat habis dan ia tidak bisa terbang sejauh itu," kata Pelaksana Tugas Menteri Transportasi Malaysia Hishammuddin Hussein dalam jumpa pers di Kuala Lumpur, Jumat.

Menurut dia, informasi tersebut sudah disampaikan ke Australia agar selanjutnya wilayah pencarian puing pesawat bisa dipersempit, seperti dilansir freemalaysiatoday.com.

Australia, lanjut dia, telah mengubah area pencarian sekitar 1.100 kilometer ke arah baratdaya.

Namun wilayah pencarian baru ini masih konsisten dengan keberadaan objek-objek yang tertangkap satelit dalam beberapa hari terakhir.

Meski area pencarian sudah lebih fokus dari sebelumnya, namun Hishammuddin menekankan bahwa kondisi lokasi pencarian tetap sulit.

"Operasi pencarian harus dijalankan berdasar informasi terkini. Dalam pencarian MH370, kami selalu mengikuti setiap bukti dan bertindak berdasar petunjuk yang kredibel," katanya.

Pencarian pesawat Malaysia Airlines MH370 difokuskan ke selatan Samudra Hindia setelah hasil analisis data satelit menunjukkan bahwa perjalanan pesawat berakhir di lokasi tersebut.

Australia memimpin operasi pencarian di kawasan itu.

Sementara itu, Jepang melaporkan satelitnya menangkap sejumlah objek mengapung di lokasi yang berjarak sekitar 2.500 km baratdaya Perth.

"Pagi tadi kami juga menerima citra satelit dari Thailand yang juga menunjukkan objek-objek potensial," kata Hishammuddin.

Temuan tersebut menambah daftar gambar satelit yang sebelumnya diberikan oleh Tiongkok, Prancis, Australia dan Malaysia.

Kuala Lumpur - Acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein today confirmed that Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 flew at a higher speed than previously thought.

“This in turn means that it used more fuel and could not travel as far,” he said at the daily MH370 press briefing today.

The new information was received from data processed by the international working group trying to determine the final position of MH370 in the Indian Ocean.

The international working group include representatives from the UK: Inmarsat, AAIB, and Rolls Royce; from China: CAAC and AAID; from the US: NTSB, FAA, and Boeing; as well as relevant Malaysian authorities.

“The group has been working to refine the Inmarsat data and to analyse it together with other information, including radar data and aircraft performance assumptions, to narrow the search area,” he said.

The international working group has further refined existing data which includes coming up with new technical information such as aircraft performance.

Hishammuddin added that the latest information was passed to Australia by the NTSB to help further refine the search area.

“The Australian authorities have indicated that they have shifted the search area approximately 1,100 kilometres to the north east.

“Because of ocean drift, this new search area could still be consistent with the potential objects identified by various satellite images over the past week,” Hishammuddin said.

So far, Australia, China, France, Japan and Thailand have released satellite images of objects which may be related to the missing plane.

MH370 disappeared from the radar on March 8 while on a routine flight from KLIA to Beijing, with 239 passengers and crew members on board.

Investigators deduced that the plane’s communications and transponder had been disabled, the plane then diverted from its original course and headed towards the Indian Ocean.
