London (B2B) - Institusi Car of the Year mengumumkan 8 finalis Car of the Year 2013: Ford B-Max, Hyundai i30, Mercedes Benz A-class, Peugeot 208, Renault Clio, Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT86, Volkswagen Golf dan Volvo V40.
Pengumuman pemenang CotY 2013 akan dilakukan pada 4 Maret 2013 di Geneva Motor Show 2013 berlangsung. Biasanya CotY menempatkan 7 finalis. Namun, karena persaingan lebih sengit dari tahun-tahun sebelumnya, maka jumlah finalis CotY 2013 menjadi 8 mobil. Kejadian ini pernah terjadi pada 2007.
CotY 2012 dimenangkan oleh Nissan Leaf – mobil listrik pertama yang menggondol piala ini. Sementara Rover 2000 menjadi pemenang pertama CotY, di tahun 1964.
CotY merupakan penghargaan internasional, dinilai oleh suatu panel juri dari wartawan-wartawan senior Eropa. Tujuan dari penghargaan ini menobatkan satu mobil baru yang paling luar biasa yang dijual dalam 12 bulan sebelum tanggal penobatan.
