Jakarta (B2B) - Needs palm oil (CPO) for African food and energy is high, with a total production of 1.8 million tons of CPO. Although relatively high, with relatively limited rainfall resulted in palm oil production costs in Africa are expensive, forcing Africa needs to import palm oil from other countries.

"Needs is high to provide opportunities for Indonesian CPO exports to Africa," said Chairman of the Indonesian Palm Oil Board (DMSI) Derom Bangun to the press after attended in African Palm Oil Congress 2013 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast on the 10-13 June 2013.

Derom Bangun added, it is now asking the government to give support export facilities. If the Indonesian CPO exports to Africa get the ease, Indonesian palm oil prices will compete and increase foreign exchange.

"Currently, palm oil import duties in Africa is high around 35 percent, one of Indonesia to clear land in Africa is Wilmar, which select investments in Nigeria," said Derom Bangun.

Related to African Palm Oil Congress 2013 in the Ivory Coast, according to Derom, as Chairman DMSI as one of the speakers invited to present a paper titled ´Certification of Quality Procedures and Production Processes´. While Congress participants came from palm oil producing countries such as Liberia, Congo, Ghana, Gabon, Cameroon, Benin, Nigeria, and Central Africa.

"On June 12, came out willpower statement called the Declaration of Abidjan as the determination of oil-producing countries in Africa to jointly face the challenges in order to increase the production of palm oil," said Derom.
