Jakarta (B2B) - Hingga 1954 pemenuhan pangan pokok dari beras hanya mencapai 53,5% dari konsumsi nasional. Selebihnya dipenuhi dari ubi kayu sebanyak 22,26%, jagung 18,9% dan kentang mencapai 4,99%. Namun saat ini beras menjadi kebutuhan pokok sehingga konsumsi selain beras nyaris hilang.
Kepala Pusat Penganekaragaman Konsumsi dan Keamanan Pangan Badan Ketahanan Pangan (BKP) Kementerian Pertanian, Sri Sulihanti mengatakan apabila dibandingkan dengan negara di kawasan Asia maka konsumsi beras setiap penduduk Indonesia mencapai 139,15 kg per tahun. Sementara rata-rata konsumsi beras dunia hanya 60 kg per kapita dalam satu tahun.
"Kondisi tersebut mendorong dikembangkannya diversifikasi konsumsi pangan, dengan menargetkan penurunan konsumsi beras minimal 1,5 persen per kapita per tahun," kata Sri Sulihanti kepada pers di Jakarta, Selasa (26/3).
Menurutnya, program penganekaragaman konsumsi pangan sebetulnya telah ada sejak lama. Sejak 1969, diperkenalkan program Beras Tekad, yang terbuat dari singkong untuk menggantikan beras. Kemudian pada 2011, keanekaragaman pangan diarahkan berbasis sumber daya lokal.
Alternatif pangan berupa beras analog, kabuto, kapurung, papeda dan beras aruk. Namun hingga saat ini, konsumsi karbohidrat beras dan terigu masih tinggi. Sedangkan konsumsi protein hewani berupa umbi-umbian, aneka kacang, serta sayur dan buah masih rendah.
"Pemanfaatan sumber pangan lokal seperti aneka umbi, jagung dan sagu masih rendah. Kecuali beras, produksi bahan pangan lain berfluktuasi baik jumlah maupun mutu. Teknologi penepungan pun relatif belum berkembang. Padahal terigu memakan devisa negara cukup tinggi karena tidak bisa diproduksi disini," ungkap Sri Sulihanti.

"These conditions encourage the development of diversification of food consumption, with a target reduction of at least 1.5 percent of rice consumption per capita per year," said Sri Sulihanti told reporters in Jakarta, Tuesday (26/3).
According to her, the program diversification of food consumption has actually been around a long time. Since 1969, the program was introduced Rice´s Determination, made from cassava to replace rice. Then in 2011, directed food diversity based on local resources.
Alternative food such as rice analog, Kabuto, kapurung, papeda and rice esio. But until now, the consumption of carbohydrates of rice and wheat are still high. While the consumption of animal protein in the form of tubers, various nuts, and vegetables and fruits are low.
"The use of local food sources such as various tubers, corn and of sago are still low. Except rice, other food production fluctuates both quantity and quality. Flouring technology is relatively underdeveloped. Though wheat consuming high income countries because they can not produce here," said Sri Sulihanti.
