Sumbawa (B2B) - Target produksi padi di Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) pada 2013 sebesar 72,06 juta ton gabah kering giling (GKG) diperkirakan terlampaui setelah realisasi produksi sawah baru di Sumbawa yang rata-rata mencapai enam ton per hektar. Kabupaten Sumbawa ditargetkan memberi kontribusi 435 ribu ton terhadap produksi padi NTB pada 2013.
"Biasanya sawah baru mencapai hasil yang maksimal setelah sembilan kali panen. Sawah baru selama ini rata-rata produksinya di bawah empat ton per hektaren tapi di Sumbawa bisa mencapai enam ton per hektar," kata Menteri Pertanian Suswono usai melakukan panen raya di lahan sawah baru di Dusun Jompong, Desa Muer, Kecamatan Plampang, Sumbawa, NTB, Sabtu (6/4).
Mentan Suswono melakukan panen raya bersama Bupati Sumbawa Jamaludin Malik, Direktur Jenderal Tanaman Pangan Kementerian Pertanian, Udhoro Kasih Anggoro, dan sejumlah pejabat daerah Sumbawa.
Atas prestasi tersebut, Mentan Suswono memberikan apresiasi yang tinggi terhadap hasil produksi sasah baru tersebu yang rata-rata mencapai 6 ton per hektare. Dengan rata-rata produksi sebesar itu, Mentan berkeyakinan target produksi padi NTB dapat terlampaui.
“Secara nasional pun dengan rata-rata produksi sebesar itu, insya Allah target produksi sebesar 72,06 juta ton akan terlampaui,” tandasnya.
