Karawang (B2B) - Surplus produksi beras pada 2012 mencapai hampir enam juta ton sehingga tahun ini ditargetkan mampu menggapai program nasional surplus beras 10 juta ton pada 2013. Asumsinya, petani mampu menghasilkan sembilan hingga 10 ton beras per hektar.
Menteri Pertanian Suswono menyatakan optimismenya terhadap pencapaian surplus beras 10 juta ton apabila petani memanfaatkan lahan sawahnya dengan optimal, dengan menerapkan teknologi terapan pertanian secara tepat guna.
"Saya harapkan petani menerapkan teknologi dengan benar dan tepat guna sehingga bisa produksi beras mampu mencapai sembilan ton hingga 10 ton per hektar," kata Mentan Suswono di sela kegiatan panen raya oleh Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) di Karawang, Selasa (16/4).

Sebelumnya, Presiden SBY melalui Twitter mengharapkan dukungan industri pupuk untuk meningkatkan produksi beras. "Program pemerintah untuk surplus beras memerlukan dukungan pupuk. Semuanya untuk meningkatkan produksi pangan," kata SBY via Twitter.
"Kalau produksi beras dan pangan kita cukup, harga akan lebih stabil, sehingga baik bagi masyarakat," harap Presiden SBY melalui akun @SBYudhoyono.

Minister of Agriculture Suswono expressed his optimism towards attainment 10 million tons of surplus rice, if farmers can take advantage of his farm to the optimum, by applying appropriate technology applied to agriculture.
"I expect farmers to implement technology correctly and appropriately, so that rice production is able to reach nine tons to 10 tons per hectare," said Minister of Agriculture Suswono after the rice harvest by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) in Karawang, Tuesday (16/4).
President Yudhoyono Hopes
Previously, President Yudhoyono via Twitter expect support the fertilizer industry to increase rice production. "Government programs need support to rice surplus fertilizer industry. Everything to increase food production," Yudhoyono said via Twitter.
"If our rice production and food enough, the price will be more stable, so it´s good for the community," President Yudhoyono hope via @ SBYudhoyono account.
