Jakarta (B2B) - Kementerian Pertanian mengaku belum optimal membuka lahan sawah baru lantaran keengganan pemerintah daerah untuk mengembangkan lahan sawah baru. Kendati begitu, pemerintah pusat proyeksikan membuka sawah baru sekitar 90 ribu hektar dari target 100 ribu hektar pada 2013.

"Maunya 100 ribu hektar tapi sesuai realisasi tahun lalu maka ditargetkan sekitar 90 ribu hektar," kata Wakil Menteri Pertanian, Rusman Heriawan di kantornya, Senin (4/3).

Terkait tingkat produktivitas beras, menurutnya, sawah baru dapat menghasilkan lebih banyak padi sekitar lima hingga enam ton per hektar. "Lahan baru maksimal berproduksi tiga ton per hektar."

Jakarta (B2B) - The Ministry of Agriculture claimed not optimal opening of new rice fields because the reluctance of local governments to develop new rice fields. Even so, the central government is projected to open new fields about 90 thousand hectares of the target of 100 thousand hectares in 2013.

"I wish 100 thousand hectares but the appropriate realization last year that targeted about 90 thousand hectares," said Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Rusman Heriawan in his office on Monday (4/3).

Related to the productivity of rice, according to him, the new rice fields could produce more rice for about five to six tons per hectare. "The new land to produce a maximum of three tonnes per hectare."

Earlier, Agriculture Minister Suswono declared dry grain production in 2013 is expected to increase, from 69 million tons in 2012 to 72 million tonnes.

"The problem now is, the narrower the agricultural land. Most farmers only have 0.2 to 0.3 hectares. To solve the problem, farmers whose land resettlement to Borneo is still widespread," he said during a visit the warehouse seed Suswono PT Pertani in the Village Plantaran, South Kaliwungu District, Kendal regency, Central Java, on Saturday (2/3).
