Brebes, Jawa Tengah (B2B) - Kementerian Pertanian RI memastikan pasokan bawang merah di sejumlah sentra produksi pada tiga kabupaten di Provinsi Jawa Tengah yakni Brebes, Demak, dan Kendal untuk memenuhi ketersediaan pasokan menjelang bulan Ramadan dan Lebaran 2016, dengan mengajak tiga pejabat dari kementerian terkait untuk melihat langsung luas lahan dan luas panen.
Direktur Jenderal Hortikultura Spudnik Sujono mengatakan pasokan bawang merah mencukupi sampai perayaan hari raya Idul Fitri pada 6-7 Juli 2016 nanti, dan diperkirakan hasil panen bawang merah tidak akan memicu kenaikan harga di tingkat konsumen.
"Saya datang ke Brebes bersama Pak Syaiful dari Kemenko Perekonomian dan Pak Nugraha dan Yudo dari Kementerian Perdagangan agar melihat langsung luas lahan dan luas panen bawang merah di sini," kata Spudnik kepada B2B di Brebes, akhir pekan lalu (30/4).
Sementara Sukemi, penangkar benih bawang merah GR Jaya yang mampu menampung 100 ton benih menyatakan komitmennya untuk membantu program pemerintah dalam penyediaan benih bersertifikat berapa pun jumlahnya asalkan ada kepastian pasar.
"Lebih dari 80% petani di Brebes menggunakan benih dari hasil pertanaman sendiri. Walaupun harga konsumsi bawang mahal, petani di Brebes tetap menyimpan benih untuk keperluannya sendiri," kata Sukemi.
Menurut Spudnik, produksi benih bersertifikat dari Kabupaten Brebes sebagian besar untuk memenuhi kebutuhan petani bawang merah setempat, juga disalurkan hampir ke seluruh Indonesia sesuai kebutuhan petani.
"Kalau melihat kondisi di Brebes dan sentra produksi lainnya ternyata stok bawang merah di tingkat petani melimpah, bulan Juni dan Juli akan panen raya, kami kira mampu memenuhi kebutuhan hingga bulan puasa dan lebaran, kalau menurut saya Indonesia tidak perlu impor bawang," kata Syaiful dari Kemenko Perekonomian.

Director General of Horticulture, Spudnik Sujono said supplies of shallots quite up the Eid on 6 to 7 July 2016, and the estimated price at the consumer level remained stable.

While Sukemi, the owner of seed multiplication shallots in Brebes declared can accommodate 100 tons of seed, and are committed to support the government in provision certified seeds as needed of farmers.
"More than 80% of farmers in Brebes use seeds from the crop itself. Although the price of onion consumption is expensive, farmers in Brebes still saving seeds for itself," Sukemi said.
According to Mr Sujono, the production of certified seeds of Brebes most of to meet the needs of local farmers, also distributed throughout Indonesia as needed of farmers.
"From field conditions in Brebes and production centers more, the supply of shallots at the farmer level abundantly, June and July will be the harvest, we think it is able to meet the needs of up to the Eid, I think Indonesia does not need to import of shallots," said Mr Syaiful of Coordinating Ministry for Economy.
