Jakarta (B2B) - Menteri Pertanian Suswono memastikan komoditas bawang dan cabai akan memenuhi pasar nasional pada April dan Mei. Hal ini berarti, mulai pekan depan pasokan dua komoditas ini akan memenuhi pasar di seluruh Indonesia sehingga harga kedua komoditas akan segera stabil.
"Pasokan bawang dan cabai dipastikan akan aman, karena kedua komoditas tersebut produksinya sudah kembali optimal pada April dan Mei," kata Suswono seperti dilansir melalui situs Kementerian Pertanian, Kamis (28/3).
Menurut Mentan, sebenarnya suplai komoditas cabai dan bawang tidak pernah berkurang. Karenanya, kenaikan harga kemungkinan disebabkan kendala transportasi dan juga isu kelangkaan di media yang memicu kenaikan harga.
"Perlu diketahui bahwa produksi hortikultura memiliki masa tersendiri dimana saat ini, produksinya memang belum optimal ditambah faktor eksternal mempengaruhi harga di tingkat pasar dan konsumen," jelasnya.
Kordinasi Dua Kementerian
Mentan menambahkan, pemerintah mengatur produksi dan permintaan barang. Ada dua kementerian yang ditunjuk yakni, Kementerian Pertanian terkait suplai dan Kementerian Perdagangan mengenai permintaan atau pasar.
"Kementerian Pertanian mengatur bagaimana produksi pertanian di tingkat petani, bagaimana memproduksi bisa murah dan petani diuntungkan. Dengan harga yang relatif tinggi, petani diuntungkan sehingga menanam lebih banyak. Begitu pula dengan harga relatif murah, petani tidak mungkin mau menanam," urainya.
Terkait persoalan kenaikan harga bawang dan cabai yang sempat terjadi, Mentan mengatakan bahwa hal itu karena mekanisme pasar. "Karena mekanisme pasar produk hortikultura ini tidak diatur seperti di Bulog sehingga ada celah yang mengganggu sistem pemasaran."

According to the Minister of Agriculture, actually supply of commodities chili and onions never diminished. Therefore, the possibility of price increases due to the constraints of transportation and also the issue of scarcity in the media that triggered the price rise.
"Please be aware that the production of horticulture has its own period in which this time, is not yet optimal production plus external factors affecting the price received by the market and consumers," he explained.
Two Coordination Ministry
Agriculture Minister added that the government regulate the production and demand for goods. There are two a designated ministries namely, Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Trade-related supply the market demand.
"The Ministry of Agriculture regulates how agricultural production at the farm level, how to produce an affordable price and farmers benefit. With prices relatively high, thus benefitting farmers to plant more. Similarly, the relatively low prices, farmers may not want to plant," he explained.
Issues related price increases onions and peppers that had happened, the Minister of Agriculture said that it was because of the market mechanism. "Since the market mechanism of horticultural products is not regulated as Bulog so there is a gap that interfere marketing system."
