Pedagang lain mengaku tidak lagi menjual apel impor dalam dua bulan terakhir ini, meskipun harga satu kotak apel Fuji seberat 17,5 kg turun dari Rp1 juta menjadi Rp500 ribu. Hal itu membuat apel impor mulai menghilang di setiap kios di sepanjang kawasan Malang-Batu.
Dengan demikian serbuan buah impor dengan sendirinya tergeser oleh minat konsumen. Wisatawan yang datang ke Malang dan Batu bisa dipastikan membeli buah apel dan berbagai makanan olahan buah apel untuk oleh-oleh.
Kendati harga apel lokal mulai membaik dan kini menyentuh harga Rp15.000 sampai Rp25.000 dari sebelumnya Rp10.000 per kg, tapi penjualan komoditas apel tetap bergairah. Dampaknya juga dirasakan petani karena keuntungan hasil panen mulai bisa dirasakan.
