Bogor (B2B) - Minister of Agriculture Suswono asking businesses to empathy in resolving price fluctuations on chilli and onions, so it does not hardship on farmers and consumers. Because the increase in the price of onions and chilli just enjoyed the middlemen.
"There should be a concern, please do not take advantage of this situation to make a profit. Hopefully these businessmen have empathy for farmers and consumers," said Minister of Agriculture Suswono after his visit in Market Up Jambu Dua, Bogor, West Java, on Sunday (24/3).
Suswono asserted, the price at the farm level, the selling price of chilli and onions are still relatively low despite rising prices in the market. "So consumers are not burdened by the lack of supply reasons, current prices have started to fall. Hopefully no more price fluctuations."
Even if the price increase, he said again, most likely because of supply at the farm level is still minimal, problems of transportation and supply scarcity issues that trigger price increases.
Minister of Agriculture did not dismiss the current horticultural production is not optimal, because the harvest will occur in April and May. "Then chilli and onions optimal production."
However, Suswono said, the issue of price rise in onions and chilli that had happened, continued the Minister, is on the market mechanism. "Since the market mechanism of horticultural products is not regulated as Bulog, so there is a gap that disrupt the marketing system."
