Subang, Jawa Barat (B2B) - Peningkatan produksi padi nasional dihadapkan pada tantangan perubahan iklim global khususnya El Nino dan La Nina sehingga dibutuhkan inovasi teknologi, salah satunya dukungan bioteknologi dalam perakitan varietas padi adaptif perubahan iklim yang didukung industri benih padi dan manajemen berkelanjutan dalam budidaya dan produksi padi.

Kepala Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan Pertanian (Balitbangtan) Kementerian Pertanian RI, Muhammad Syakir mengatakan pengembangan inovasi teknologi padi juga membutuhkan sinergi dan integrasi berbagai disiplin ilmu baik dari bidang pemuliaan, agronomi, fisiologi, ilmu tanah, proteksi, mekanisasi, sosial ekonomi dan pasca panen.

"Balitbangtan akan terus aktif mencari inovasi mitigasi dan adaptasi perubahan iklim melalui pengembangan varietas sangat genjah tahan kering, tahan rendaman, tahan salinitas dan tahan terhadap organisme pengganggu tanaman," kata Muhammad Syakir dalam arahannya yang dibacakan Sekretaris Balitbangtan, Prama Yufdi pada pembukaan seminar nasional padi di Kabupaten Subang, Provinsi Jawa Barat pada Rabu (31/8).

Seminar nasional berlangsung di Balai Besar Penelitian Padi (BB Padi) di Jl Raya 9, Sukamandi, Kecamatan Subang yang mengusung tema ´Terobosan Inovasi Teknologi Padio Adaptif Perubahan Iklim Mendukung Kedaulatan Pangan´ dihadiri oleh 200 peserta, terdiri atas 158 peserta pemakalah dan sekitar 40 peserta non-pemakalah dari berbagai lembaga penelitian di Kementan, perguruan tinggi, lembaga penelitian non-kementerian, perwakilan dari dinas pertanian tanaman pangan di 18 provinsi sentra produksi padi, dan perwakilan TNI dari Provinsi Bali.

Menurut Syakir seperti dikutip Prama Yufdi, Balitbangtan akan selalu berkomunikasi dalam mengembangkan teknologi yang dimiliki sehingga pada akhirnya dalam kondisi yang dinamis sehingga dapat bersama-sama mengembangkan inovasi teknologi terutama penerapannya di lahan-lahan pertanian yang digarap petani, sebagai esensi dasar dari kinerja Balitbangtan untuk meningkatkan produksi pangan dan mendukung peningkatan kesejahteraan petani di seluruh Indonesia.

"Berbagai gagasan, pemikiran dan hasil-hasil penelitian terkini dihimpun dalam seminar nasional ini, tujuannya agar dapat melahirkan dan mengembangkan inovasi teknologi padi yang mampu meningkatkan adaptabilitas padi terhadap perubahan iklim global untuk mewujudkan kedaulatan pangan," kata Prama mengutip Syakir yang berhalangan hadir karena sedang menunaikan ibadah haji di Tanah Suci Mekkah.

Dia menambahkan, Kementan di bawah kendali Andi Amran Sulaiman telah melakukan berbagai akselerasi pencapaian swasembada pangan strategis khususnya beras, yang menjadi salah satu program Nawa Cita dari Presiden RI Joko Widodo.

"Kementan telah melakukan berbagai upaya strategis melalui perbaikan irigasi, distribusi benih varietas unggul, penyaluran pupuk, dan pengadaan alat mesin pertanian dan Balitbangtan berkomitmen mendukung kementerian mencapai cita-cita mulia meningkatkan produksi pangan bagi seluruh rakyat," kata sekretaris badan mengutip sambutan Kepala Balitbangtan.

Subang, West Java (B2B) - Efforts to increase rice production in Indonesia face the challenges of global climate change, El Nino and La Nina, so it takes innovation in technology, especially biotechnology varieties of rice adaptive to climate change, which is supported by the seed industry and sustainable management of cultivation and rice production.

The Head of Indonesia´s Agency for Agricultural Research and Development of Agriculture Ministry (IAARD) Muhammad Syakir said that the development technology innovation rice requires synergy and integration of various scientific disciplines such as breeding, agronomy, physiology, soil science, protection, mechanization, socioeconomics and post-harvest.

"The IAARD will continue developing innovative mitigation and adaptation to climate change through the development of rice varieties resistant to drought, resistant immersion, hold salinity, and resistance to plant pests," Mr Syakir in his speech which was read by the Secretary of IAARD, Prama Yufdi at a national seminar of paddy here on Wednesday (August 31).

A national seminar took place at the Center for Rice Research (BB Padi) on Raya 9 Street of Sukamandi, Subang District in West Java Province which was attended by 200 participants, consisting of 158 speakers and about 40 participants of non-speakers from various research institutions in the Agriculture Ministry, universities, research institutes non-ministries, representatives of the agricultural office of 18 provinces, and military representatives of Bali Province.

It was attended by Director General of Food Crops, Hasil Sembiring and the Head of BB Padi, Ali Jamil.

Mr Syakir was quoted by Mr Yufdi, the IAARD will actively communicate in developing technologies that can work together to develop innovative technology, especially its application in agricultural land owned by the farmers, according to the vision and mission of the IAARD for increase food production and improving the welfare of farmers across the country.

"The ideas, thoughts and research results will be compiled in this seminar, the aim to develop innovative technologies capable of adaptation to global climate change to achieve food sovereignty," said Mr Yufdi quoted Mr Syakir who was unable to attend because he was the pilgrimage in the Holy Land of Mecca.

He added that the Agriculture Ministry under the control of Andi Amran Sulaiman has undertaken various acceleration to achieve self-sufficiency in strategic food especially rice, which became one of Nawa Cita program of President Joko Widodo.

"The Agriculture Ministry has made various strategic efforts through improved irrigation, distribution of superior seeds, fertilizer distribution, and procurement of agricultural machinery, and the IAARD committed to supporting the ministry achieve the noble ideals of increasing food production for all people," the secretary of the agency quoted the speech the Head of IAARD.
