Presiden Jokowi Dorong Sinergi ASEAN-PBB Jaga Perdamaian Kawasan
President Jokowi Encourages ASEAN-UN Synergy to Maintain Regional Peace

Jakarta [B2B] - Presiden Jokowi bertemu Sekretaris Jenderal [Sekjen] Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa [PBB], Antonio Guterres untuk menyampaikan keprihatinannya dengan situasi global saat ini dan mengatakan bahwa harapan dunia pada PBB makin besar untuk ciptakan perdamaian dunia.
Selain itu, Presiden Jokowi pun mendorong sinergi ASEAN dengan PBB dalam upaya menjaga perdamaian di kawasan dalam sela-sela pelaksanaan rangkaian Konferensi Tingkat Tinggi [KTT] ke-43 ASEAN.
"Yang Mulia, diperlukan sinergi antara ASEAN dan PBB untuk jaga perdamaian dan tangani isu penting di kawasan, termasuk isu Myanmar," ujar Presiden Jokowi.
Selain itu, Presiden Jokowi juga menyampaikan soal Indo-Pasifik. Menurut Presiden, ASEAN kembali memberikan kontribusi bagi kawasan Indo-Pasifik melalui implementasi ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific [AOIP].
“Mengenai Indo-Pasifik, ASEAN kembali berikan kontribusi melalui ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific yang diterjemahkan dalam kerja sama konkret,” imbuhnya.
Sementara itu, Sekjen PBB Antonio Guterres menyampaikan apresiasinya atas kepemimpinan Indonesia dan upaya diplomasi yang luar biasa di ASEAN dan G20. Sekjen PBB pun bertekad untuk terus mengembangkan kerja sama antara PBB dengan Indonesia maupun dengan ASEAN.
"Kami bertekad untuk mengembangkan sebanyak mungkin kerja sama kita di Indonesia dan kerja sama kita di ASEAN. Selamat kepada Bapak Presiden atas kepemimpinan Anda yang luar biasa di ASEAN selama periode ini," ucap Sekjen PBB.
Jakarta [B2B] - President Jokowi met with the Secretary General [Secretary General] of the United Nations [UN], Antonio Guterres to express his concern for the current global situation and said that the world's hopes for the UN are increasing to create world peace.
Apart from that, President Jokowi also encouraged ASEAN synergy with the United Nations in an effort to maintain peace in the region during the sidelines of the 43rd ASEAN Summit.
"Your Excellency, synergy is needed between ASEAN and the United Nations to maintain peace and deal with important issues in the region, including the issue of Myanmar," said President Jokowi.
Apart from that, President Jokowi also conveyed about the Indo-Pacific. According to the President, ASEAN is once again contributing to the Indo-Pacific region through the implementation of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific [AOIP].
"Regarding the Indo-Pacific, ASEAN is again contributing through the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific which is translated into concrete cooperation," he added.
Meanwhile, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres expressed his appreciation for Indonesia's leadership and extraordinary diplomatic efforts in ASEAN and the G20. The Secretary General of the United Nations is also determined to continue to develop cooperation between the United Nations and Indonesia as well as with ASEAN.
"We are determined to develop as much as possible our cooperation in Indonesia and our cooperation in ASEAN. Congratulations to the President for your extraordinary leadership in ASEAN during this period," said the UN Secretary General.
