President Jokowi Encourages Young Generation to Make ASEAN a Growth Center

Manggarai Barat, NTT [B2B] - Jokowi menyampaikan harapan para pemimpin ASEAN terhadap peran pemuda ASEAN dalam menciptakan kawasan ASEAN yang stabil dan damai serta sebagai pusat pertumbuhan [epicentrum of growth].
"Kami berharap peran besar generasi muda ASEAN untuk keberlangsungan Asia Tenggara sebagai kawasan yang stabil dan damai, serta menjadi epicentrum of growth," ujar Jokowi.
Menurut Jokowi, ASEAN mempunyai modal kuat untuk mewujudkan hal tersebut, mulai dari pertumbuhan ekonomi yang di atas rerata dunia serta kestabilan kawasan yang terjaga. Presiden juga meyakini, populasi pemuda yang sebesar 34 persen menjadi modal kuat ASEAN untuk memaksimalkan potensi ASEAN tersebut.
"[Sebanyak] 34 persen populasi ASEAN adalah pemuda. Oleh sebab itu, generasi muda ASEAN perlu merumuskan langkah-langkah terbaik untuk memaksimalkan potensi tersebut," imbuhnya.
Pada kesempatan itu, Jokowi juga mengungkapkan kegembiraannya dapat bertemu generasi muda ASEAN, calon pemimpin masa depan.
"Saya senang bisa bertemu generasi muda ASEAN, calon pemimpin masa depan yang memiliki energi positif dan ide-ide kreatif, ide-ide inovatif untuk memajukan kawasan," kata Jokowi saat membuka pertemuan.
West Manggarai of East Nusa Tenggara [B2B] - Jokowi expressed the hope of ASEAN leaders for the role of ASEAN youth in creating a stable and peaceful ASEAN region as well as an epicentrum of growth.
"We hope that the ASEAN youth will play a big role in the sustainability of Southeast Asia as a stable and peaceful region, as well as becoming the epicenter of growth," said Jokowi.
According to Jokowi, ASEAN has strong capital to make this happen, starting from economic growth which is above the world average and maintained regional stability. The President also believes that the youth population, which is 34 percent, is ASEAN's strong asset in maximizing ASEAN's potential.
"[As many as] 34 percent of the ASEAN population are youth. Therefore, the young generation of ASEAN needs to formulate the best steps to maximize this potential," he added.
On that occasion, Jokowi also expressed his joy at being able to meet the younger generation of ASEAN, future leaders.
"I am pleased to be able to meet the younger generation of ASEAN, future leaders who have positive energy and creative ideas to advance the region," Jokowi said when opening the meeting.
