Jakarta (B2B) - Ketua  Mahkamah Konstitusi (MK) Mahfud MD Ketua menyatakan bahwa Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) tidak pernah campur tangan dalam urusan MK.

"Kami telah bekerja di Mahkamah Konstitusi hingga saat ini, dan Presiden Yudhoyono telah pernah mencoba untuk mengontrol MK," katanya kepada pers setelah diterima oleh kepala negara, Rabu (5/12).

Mahfud mengatakan, MK telah mampu beroperasi secara independen menangani perselisihan hukum yang timbul selama ini.

Dia mengaku puas bahwa MK dipercaya sebagai lembaga peradilan yang independen. Mahfud juga memuji para hakim konstitusi yang bekerja secara independen dan membantu menjadikan Mahkamah Konstitusi sebagai institusi yang andal dan terhormat di negeri ini.

Ketua MK dan empat hakim konstitusi lainnya diterima oleh Presiden Yudhoyono di kantornya, Rabu.

Berbicara kepada pers setelah diterima oleh Presiden, Mahfud mengatakan: "Kami datang ke kantor presiden untuk melaporkan bahwa tugas kami akan selesai pada tahun 2013."

"Saya ke kantor Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat (DPR) kemarin untuk melaporkan hal yang sama dan sekarang saya datang ke kantor presiden," tambahnya.

Mahfud mencatat bahwa tidak ada masalah politik yang dibahas dalam pertemuan dengan Presiden Yudhoyono.

"Isu-isu politik tidak dibahas, tetapi itu adalah tanggung jawab hukum para hakim konstitusi untuk menginformasikan Presiden jika ada masalah politik," katanya.

Pertemuan dimulai pada Rabu pagi pukul 10.00 Wib dan berlangsung selama 35 menit.

Dalam pertemuan tersebut, Presiden Yudhoyono didampingi oleh Menteri Koordinator Politik Djoko Suyanto, Hukum dan Keamanan, Menteri / Sekretaris Negara Sudi Silalahi, Hukum dan Hak Asasi Manusia wakil menteri Denny Indrayana, dan Sekretaris Kabinet Dipo Alam.

Jakarta (B2B) - Constitutional Court (MK) Chairman Mahfud MD has stated that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono never intervened in the affairs of the Constitutional Court.

"We have been working at the Constitutional Court for quite some time now, and President Yudhoyono has never tried to control the MK," he told the press after being received by the head of state on Wednesday.

Therefore, Mahfud said, the MK had been able to operate independently while addressing disputes arising in the country.

He expressed satisfaction that the MK was being trusted as an independent judiciary institution.

Mahfud also praised the constitutional judges for working independently and helping make the Constitutional Court a reliable and respectable institution in the country.

The MK chairman and four other constitutional judges were received by President Yudhoyono at his office on Wednesday.

Speaking to the press after being received by the President, Mahfud said: "We have come to the presidential office to report that our first task will be completed in 2013."

"I went to the House of Representatives (DPR) office yesterday to report the same thing and now I have come to the presidential office," he added.

Mahfud noted that no political issues were discussed during the meeting with President Yudhoyono.

"Political issues were not discussed, but it is the legal responsibility of the constitutional judges to inform the President if there is any political problem," he said.

The meeting started at 10am on Wednesday morning and lasted for 35 minutes.

During the meeting, President Yudhoyono was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto, Minister/State Secretary Sudi Silalahi, Law and Human Rights deputy minister Denny Indrayana, and Cabinet secretary Dipo Alam.
