Jakarta (B2B) -Ketua Umum Partai Persatuan Pembangunan (PPP), Suryadharma Ali menerima pencalonannya sebagai bakal calon presiden atau wakil presiden periode 2014-2019.
"Dengan segala kerendahan hati dan mohon izin hadirin sekalian, para ulama, dan tentunta bimbingan Allah SWT. Dengan mengucapkan Bismilahirrohmanirohim, saya menerima pencalonan itu," kata Suryadharma Ali saat menyampaikan pidato politiknya di Sabuga, Bandung, Jawa Barat, Minggu.
Menteri Agama itu menjelaskan, dirinya adalah kader partai, dibina, dididik, terbangun oleh partai.
"Dan saya berkewajiban mengabdikan diri kepada PPP. Pengabdian ke PPP saya niatkan bukan semata-mata untuk PPP tapi Islam, untuk umat-umat beragama, untuk Indonesia yang plural, majemuk," kata Suryadharma Ali.
Selain itu, pencalonannya sebagai bakal capres atau cawapres, merupakan sebuah panggilan.
"Ini sebuah panggilan, saya merenungkan berbagai hal yang dihadapan kita. Dari situlah muncul sebuah gagasan, setelah shalat Ashar, terbesit sebuah tema besar, Merah Putih Bisa," katanya.
Jakarta (B2B) - Indonesias Islamic-based United Development Party (PPP) chairman, Suryadharma Ali expressed his readiness to become the partys presidential candidate as mandated by the partys national congress.
"Bismillah (in the name of God), I accept the nomination (to become presidential candidate)," Suryadharma stated at the PPP 41st anniversary here on Sunday.
According to Suryadharma, as a PPP cadre, who has been educated and nurtured by the party, (he) is automatically has an obligation to devote himself to the PPP and the Indonesian people who have a wide range of diversity.
Suryadharma, who is concurrently the Religious Affairs Minister, believed that in the spirit of Islam, the nations complicated problems can be solved.
"I am absolutely convinced with (the spirit of) Islam, we can dedicate our best work," he disclosed.
With regard to a failure of the partys second national congress to declare its presidential candidate in the current Second National Working Meeting (Mukernas II), Suryadharma said that PPP will not declare its presidential hopeful until after the implementation of the countrys legislative general election in April this year.
