Jakarta (B2B) - Menteri BUMN Dahlan Iskan siap mengikuti konvensi Partai Demokrat dan tinggal menunggu pengumuman saja.
"Kali ini saya tidak bisa menghindar pertanyaan soal konvensi Demokrat. Kali ini saya harus bicara soal konvensi," kata Dahlan, usai menggelar Rapat Pimpinan Kementerian BUMN, di Depok, Kamis.
Menurut Dahlan, untuk menjadi peserta konvensi calon presiden Partai Demokrat tersebut dirinya sudah berkirim surat kepada Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono beberapa bulan lalu.
Sebelumnya, pada Rabu malam (21/8), Komite Konvensi Partai Demokrat telah mendapatkan 18 nama kandidat peserta konvensi untuk menentukan calon presiden dari partai.
Selain Dahlan Iskan, sejumlah nama yang disebut-sebut masuk daftar peserta Konvensi Demokrat yang akan digelar pada September 2013 itu Gita Wirjawan, Dino Patti Djalal, Wakil Presiden RI Boediono, mantan Wapres Jusuf Kalla, Gubernur Sulawesi Utara Sinyo Harry Sarundajang, Bupati Kutai Timur Isran Noor, Ketua DPR Marzuki Alie.
Beberapa waktu lalu, Dahlan selalu mengelak dan terkesan malu-malu ketika dikonfirmasi soal kesiapannya ikut konvensi Partai Demokrat. Mulai dari alasan tidak mau, hingga alasan menunggu takdir.
Namun kali ini, mantan Dirut PT PLN ini tidak lagi bisa mengelak. Dahlan mengakui hingga kini masih tetap mengunggu pengumuman lebih lanjut dari Panitia Konvensi apakah masuk dalam peserta konvensi.
Pada kesempatan itu Dahlan mengatakan, tidak ada persiapan khusus untuk mengikuti konvensi tersebut.
"Saya juga tidak membentuk tim sukses. Cuma saja ada kelompok relawan yang atas inisiatif mereka sendiri mendukung saya," kata Dahlan.
Jakarta (B2B) - State-Owned Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan announced his willingness to participate in the Democratic Party presidential candidate convention, noting that he is simply waiting for the official announcement.
"This time, I guess I cannot avoid the question on the Democratic Party convention. This time, I have to talk about it," he said here on Thursday.
Iskan remarked that he had sent a letter to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono a few months ago as part of his application to join the upcoming convention.
Earlier, on Wednesday night, the Democratic Party Convention Committee announced the names of 18 nominees who will participate in the presidential candidate convention.
In addition to Iskan, the other nominees include Gita Wirjawan, Dino Patti Djalal, Vice President Boediono, Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla, North Sulawesi Governor Sinyo Harry Sarundajang, Head of East Kutai District Isran Noor, and House of Representatives` Speaker Marzuki Alie.
Until recently, Iskan has always avoided answering questions on his readiness to compete in the Democratic Party convention. He had previously stated that he did not want to compete in the convention or was waiting for destiny to call.
With the presidential candidate convention around the corner, Iskan admitted that he was still waiting for the committee`s official announcement on whether he was qualified to participate.
He also insisted that he had not made any special preparations ahead of joining the convention.
"I have not even formed an election campaign team. However, I do have a team of volunteers who support me," he said.
