Jakarta (B2B) - The never ending inundations on city streets are making traffic in many areas congested until gridlocked. To parse the congestion, Jakarta Police deploy 5,000 personnel to regulate the chaotic traffic caused by flood.
“Every day we deploy 5,000 traffic police officers to regulate the traffic in this flood season,” stated Jakarta Police Traffic Directorate Chief, Sr. Comr. Nurhadi Yuwono, Tuesday (1/21).
According to Yuwono, some priority locations where traffic congestion needs to be parsed are Pancoran, Semanggi, Jl. HR Rasuna Said, Jl. Jenderal Gatot Subroto, Jl. Jenderal Sudirman, and entrance-exit city toll gates.
Moreover, his party is also coordinating with Jakarta Police Traffic Management Center (TMC) to monitor the traffic. This is because many motorists are going through alternative routes since the main roads are inundated. And in those routes, there are a lot of intersections which cannot be monitored by his personnel.
“We’re always trying to update new information in the field. I hope the residents can do so as well, because calculation is need before going through alternative routes. If the inundations not too deep and possible to go through, walk slowly. If there is no urgent matter, the residents are expected not to go outside their houses,” finished Yuwono.
