Jakarta (B2B) - The second meeting of chief patron of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto with chairman of Golkar Party Aburizal Bakrie here on Monday did not yield a formal agreement for a coalition in Presidential Election 2014.
"However, this meeting is a follow up to the first meeting held last week, when Prabowo had visited Aburizal Bakrie," Vice Chairman Gerindra Fadli Zon said after the closed meeting.
He said the formal agreement is awaiting the results of the legislative election to be announced by the General Elections Commission (KPU).
Fadli added that a new agreement can be called formal when it was signed by each political party. He also stated whether Gerindra and Golkar Party have an internal mechanism.
This second meeting was a closed-door meeting held at the residence of Prabowo.
Previously, in Jakarta on Thursday, May 1, a politician of the Golkar Party Nurul Arifin said the discussion about the vice-presidential candidate became the key for the presence or absence of a coalition between his party and the Gerindra Party in the presidential election.
"I do believe that this meeting can result in a coalition as long as someone is given the role of the vice-presidential candidate," Nurul said.
