Jakarta (B2B) - Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) mencatat populasi sapi potong mencapai lebih dari 14 juta ekor, berdasarkan hasil survei door to door. Namun BPS menilai, jumlah populasi tersebut belum menjamin ketersediaan daging sapi untuk memenuhi kebutuhan nasional.
Kepala BPS Suryamin mengatakan, pemilik sapi mayoritas adalah peternak rumah tangga, untuk pengembangbiakan. Mereka hanya menjual sapinya dalam kondisi tertentu, seperti hari raya atau ketika membutuhkan uang tunai dalam jumlah besar.
"Hal ini yang mempengaruhi kelangkaan sapi lokal di pasaran dan membuat harga melambung," kata Suryamin melalui pernyataan tertulisnya, Jumat (1/3).
Suryamin menyatakan, masalah utamanya adalah jalur distribusi dari daerah sentra produksi daging sapi menuju konsumen.

"It is affecting local beef shortages in the market driving prices soar," said Suryamin through a statement on Friday (1/3).
Suryamin stated, the main problem is the distribution of beef production centers towards consumers.
