Diketahui banjir lahar hujan memiliki sifat merusak.
Masyarakat dihimbau selalu waspada. Jauhi bantaran sungai saat banjir lahar dingin.
Jakarta (B2B) - After the eruption of Kelud, Scientists estimated that there is about 50 million cubic meters of lava that spurred out of Kelud Mountain.
“There is about 50 million cubic meters of cold lava that is around the slopes of Kelud Mountain, especially now because of the recent weather which makes it easy for a flood of cold lava,” said Head of Data Information and Public Relations BNPB, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, in a brief message at Jakarta, Tuesday (18/2) night.
Sutopo explains the downpour that washed the Gunung Kelud Area since 3:00 PM, has caused the cold lavahas led to a flood of cold lava in the rivers of the district of Kediri and Malang Regency.
It has come to light that the cold lava has carried an amount of sand, rocks and woods.
“Of course all the cold lava wouldn’t spur out all at once. It still depends on the weather.”
BNPB has recorded that at least there are five houses and one mushola that’s currently sunken in Cold Lava. Nevertheless everyone survived from the flood of cold lava.
Meanwhile at the Malang Regency, the cold lava flood happened in the Sono River and the Sambong River, which then resulted to the snapping of a small bridge that connects the local hamlets with the village of Pandansari.
From the events, it is recoded that two houses eroded along with the lava, however it is unknown whether there is any loss of life from the flood.
Actions to anticipate the cold lava flood which would later get a lot more messy, BNPB has prepared a dam which could fill up 14,5 million meter cubic of liquid. Adding up with the rivers, which could withhold 14 million meter cubic, both structures could fill up an astonishing 28 million meter cubic.
“The people are encouraged to always be prepared and alert. Also to stay away from the riverbanks if these recent events repeated itself.”
