Jakarta (B2B) - Ekspor produk rotan tahun ini diproyeksi US$250 juta atau naik sekitar 25% dibandingkan dengan tahun lalu senilai US$200 juta didorong oleh melonjaknya permintaan dan efek positif pemberlakuan kebijakan pelarangan eskpor bahan baku rotan.
Ketua Asosiasi Mebel dan Kerajinan Rotan Indonesia (AMKRI) Sunoto mengatakan pengaturan tata niaga rotan melalui Peraturan Menteri Perdagangan (Permendag) No 35,36, dan 37 Tahun 2011 membawa manfaat bagi pengusaha rotan domestik.
“Pasokan rotan di dalam negeri sejauh ini aman. Apalagi setelah ada kebijakan penutupan ekspor rotan ke luar negeri. Pemberlakuan aturan tersebut sangat tepat,” katanya kepada Bisnis, Senin (28/1/2013).
Menurutnya, pemberlakuan aturan tersebut dapat meningkatkan daya saing produk rotan di dalam negeri karena beberapa negara pengekspor produk rotan seperti China dan Jepang mulai kesulitan mendapatkan bahan baku.
Hal ini, lanjutnya, disebabkan selama ini kedua negara tersebut menerima pasokan bahan baku dari Tanah Air yang merupakan produsen utama rotan di dunia dengan 90% tumbuhan rotan global barada di Sulawesi, Sumatra, dan Kalimantan.
“Kapasitas produksi rotan sekitar 150.000 ton, sekitar 60% disumbangkan Sulawesi.”

The Minister of Trade Decrees No 35, 36, and 37 regarding rattan trade systems advantage the industry players, said Chairman of Indonesia Rattan Furniture and Craft Association (AMKRI) Sunoto.
“We have sufficient rattan supply especially after the enactment of rattan exports policy. It really helps us,” he told.
According to him, the implementation of such decrees can improve the competitiveness of rattan products in the country as some rattan exporter countries such as China and Japan are difficult in obtaining raw materials.
This, he added, because two countries had been receiving a supply of raw materials from Indonesia that is a major producer of rattan in the world with 90% of global rattan plants seeded in Sulawesi, Sumatra, and Borneo.
“Rattan productions reach 150,000 ton where 60% of them come from Sulawesi.”
