GUNCANGAN gempa berkekuatan 5,4 Skala Richter (SR) di Laut Banda, Kepulauan Maluku terasa hingga Darwin di utara Australia, seperti dikonfirmasi oleh pemerintah Australia.
Gempa tersebut terasa di Darwin pada Sabtu pukul 21:30, menurut pernyataan resmi Biro Meteorologi Australia.
'Pusat Peringatan Dini Tsunami telah mendeteksi gempa bumi yang dilaporkan berlangsung dekat Darwin," kata biro meteorologi seperti dilaporkan Australian Associated Press yang dikutip MailOnline.
'Berdasarkan besarnya dan lokasi gempa tersebut the Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre menilai tidak ada ancaman tsunami ke daratan Australia, maupun pulau-pulau dan wilayah sekitarnya.'
A MAGNITUDE 5.4 earthquake in the Banda Sea off Indonesia has been felt near Darwin, Australian authorities have confirmed.
The quake struck just before 9.30pm AEST on Saturday, the Bureau of Meteorology said in statement.
'The Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre has detected an earthquake that has been reported as being felt near Darwin, NT,' the bureau said.
'Based on the magnitude and location of this earthquake the Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre has assessed there is no tsunami threat to the Australian mainland, islands or territories.'
