Jakarta (B2B) - Kementerian Pertanian akan menyalurkan 4 juta dosis vaksin flu burung H5N1 clade 2.3.2 mulai Rabu pekan depan (8/5), khususnya kepada peternak itik di Jawa. Pemerintah, awalnya akan mendistribusikan vaksin tersebut pada 19 Maret 2013, tapi terkendala proses pengujian di laboratorium.
Direktur Jenderal Peternakan dan Kesehatan Hewan, Kementerian Pertanian, Syukur Iwantoro menyatakan pemerintah sangat concern terhadap mewabahnya penyakit yang menyerang unggas tersebut dan membahayakan nyawa manusia.
"Flu burung tidak hanya mengancam kelangsungan usaha peternak unggas tapi juga membahayakan nyawa manusia, seperti terjadi di China saat ini maupun yang pernah terjadi di Indonesia pada 2003 lalu," kata Syukur Iwantoro kepada pers di Jakarta, Kamis (2/5).
Menurut Syukur, pemerintah akan menyalurkan 4 juta dosis kepada peternak, khususnya peternak itik, karena itik tergolong paling rentan terhadap wabah ini. Vaksin flu burung jenis H5N1 clade 2.3.2 merupakan produksi Pusat Veteriner Masyarakat.
"Awalnya vaksin tersebut akan didistribusikan pada 19 Maret lalu, namun, karena proses tes dan laboraturium yang cukup panjang, akhirnya pada 8 Mei mendatang," ungkap Dirjen Peternakan dan Kesehatan Hewan.
Ketua Himpunan Peternak Unggas Lokal Indonesia (Himpuli), Ade M Zulkarnaen mengatakan dalam beberapa bulan terakhir ini, para peternak itik sudah tidak mengeluhkan penyakit flu burung.
"Para peternak sudah melakukan biosecurity terhadap hewan mereka. Sosialisasi Biosecurity merupakan hal yang penting," katanya.
Menurut dia, akibat dari flu burung, peternak itik mengalami kerugian Rp17,5 miliar yang dihitung dari kematian itik sejak akhir 2012 hingga saat ini. Peternak juga terancam merugi hingga Rp147 miliar akibat potensi kehilangan telur.

Director General of Livestock and Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture, Syukur Iwantoro said the government is very concerned about outbreaks of diseases that attack the birds and endanger human lives.
"Bird flu threatens not only the survival of poultry farmers but also endanger human lives, as happened in China at this time and that ever happened in Indonesia in 2003," said Syukur Iwantoro told reporters in Jakarta, Thursday (2/5).
According Syukur, the government will distribute 4 million doses to the farmers, especially the duck farmers, duck classified as most vulnerable to the epidemic. H5N1 strain of bird flu vaccine clade 2.3.2 is a production of Community Veterinary Center.
"Initially the vaccine will be distributed on March 19, however, due process and laboratory tests are quite long, finally executed on May 8," said Director General of Livestock and Animal Health.
Chairman of Local Indonesian Poultry Breeders Association (Himpuli), Ade M Zulkarnain said in the past few months, the duck farmers are not complaining about the bird flu disease.
"The farmers are done their animal biosecurity. Socialization biosecurity is an important thing," he said.
According to him, a result of avian influenza, duck farmers lost Rp17, 5 billion is calculated from the duck deaths since the end of 2012 to the present. Duck farmers also threatened Rp147 billion loss due to the potential loss of eggs.
