FOTO dari efek gerhana matahari total (GMT) pada 9 Maret 2016 yang dilakukan di Luwuk, Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah menjadi pemenang utama dari kompetisi foto astronomi internasional yang diselenggarakan oleh Observatorium Greenwich Kerajaan Inggris untuk kedelapan kalinya.
Sementara foto tentang GMT di atas Kepulauan Tidore, Provinsi Maluku Utara yang menyerupai tentakel akibat dari sorot panas korona di permukaan matahari meraih juara kedua untuk kategori Matahari Kita (Our Sun) pada kontes yang sama.
Planet-planet, bintang-bintang dan gugusan galaksi yang membentang di atas bumi memberi kesempatan tanpa batas bagi para fotografer dunia untuk mengabadikan bukti kekuasaan dan kebesaran Allah SWT sebagai Maha Pencipta.
Juri dari kontes untuk memilih foto-foto terbaik dari ruang angkasa yang difoto telah diumumkan - sebagai bagian dari kompetisi Fotografi Astronomi Tahunan.
Juara umum adalah foto karya Yu Jun dari China, yang memperlihatkan efek dari GMT yang dikenal sebagai efek Baily Bead's pada 9 Maret 2016 yang difoto di Luwuk, Indonesia.
"Ini adalah semacam visualisasi kuat, yang memperlihatkan peristiwa alam luar biasa tentang matahari ketika mengalami gerhana," kata juri kompetisi Dr Marek Kukula.
Tahun ini kompetisi menerima karya foto lebih dari 4.500 foto spektakuler dari fotografer amatir dan profesional yang berasal dari 80 negara seperti dilansir MailOnline.

The overall winner shows the Baily's Beads effect during the total solar eclipse of 9 March 2016 captured from Luwuk, Indonesia. As the moon passes in front of our star, the sun, the rugged surface of our natural satellite allows beads of sunlight to escape in some places and not in others.
Runner up of the Our Sun category. A composite of 12 images taken during the total solar eclipse on 9 March 2016 from Tidore Island in Eastern Indonesia. Resembling tentacles, the blistering solar coronal structures reach out from the sun's surface with an average temperature of between one and three million kelvin.
Now a selection judged best to be the photographs of space taken this year have been revealed - as part of this year's Insight Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition.
The overall winner was a picture captured by Yu Jun in China, showing the Baily's Beads effect during the total solar eclipse of 9 March 2016 captured from Luwuk, Indonesia.
'This is such a visually striking image, with its succession of fiery arcs all perfectly balanced around the pitch black circle of totality,' said competition judge and Royal Observatory Public Astronomer, Dr Marek Kukula.
This year the competition received a record number of over 4,500 spectacular entries from enthusiastic amateurs and professional photographers from over 80 countries.
