Jakarta (B2B) - Konsumsi baja di dalam negeri diproyeksi tumbuh sekitar 6% hingga 7% pada 2013.

Ketua Iron and Steel Industry Association (IISIA) Irvan Kamal Hakim
mengatakan pertumbuhan industri baja di tahun depan didorong oleh
peningkatan investasi di sektor manufaktur, otomotif dan realisasi
pembangunan sejumlah proyek infrastruktur pemerintah.
Pertumbuhan industri baja pada tahun depan dinilai masih prospektif sepanjang industri dan kondisi ekonomi global membaik.
Irvan
mengakui dengan adanya perlambatan ekonomi di China akibat krisis
global bisa menyebabkan harga jual baja tertekan seiring over supply
akibat penurunan permintaan.
"Namun jika kondisi ekonomi China
pada tahun depan dapat kembali rebound, pasar baja nasional ikut
membaik," kata Irvan, Senin (19/11).

Irvan Kamal Hakim said that the growth will be sustained by increased
investments in manufacturing and automotive sectors, as well as the
realization of government’s infrastructure projects development.
The
growth of steel industry next year is assessed still prospective as
long as the industry and the global economic condition recover.
Irvan
admits that the economic slowdown in China, due to global crisis, might
depress selling prices of steel following with the over-supply that
resulted from declining demand.
"However, if China’s economy recovers next year, the national steel market will also rebound," he said on Monday (19/11).
