Ormas FPI kembali memicu bentrokan.
Jakarta (B2B) - National police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Agus Rianto claimed that his organization is not in the position to break up a mass organization like Islam Defenders Front (FPI). However, the police are allowed to provide recommendations of a group dissolution to a related ministry.
"Principally, the law allows us to coordinate with the ministry," Agus said in a press conference at his office, earlier today, July 19.
Even if the police had submitted the recommendation, Agus claimed that it will not guarantee the immediate dissolution of the group since the decision is fully in the hands of the related ministry.
FPI has just recently ignited another riot. Last night, July 18, hundreds of FPI took off to a localization place in Sukoharjo. Their arrival was blocked by the locals, which resulted in a 15-minute riot. A person died after being hit by a car driven by an FPI member.
Agus affirmed that FPI is not in a position to conduct raids. "The law stipulates that raids could only be conducted by appointed security apparatus. We warn mass organizations not to conduct arbitrary raids," he said.
Agus expects mass organizations to support order and security inside the society. If they do not respect these aspects, many organizations like the related ministry and the police will watch them closely. "We will suggest that the mass organization be reminded to return to a proper track," he said.
