Jakarta - The government hopes that foreign and domestic investors will increase their capital in the Indonesian Tourism industry. The strong fundamental base of the national economy is an enticement to invest in this sector.

"A momentum such as this is hoped to be able to obtain something beneficial in terms of tourism and economy investments in Indonesia. For energy, technology, infrastructure, and other economic aspects," said Deputy of Industry and Trade, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Edy Putra Irrawaddy, during the opening of a one day discussion titled ´Indonesia Tourism Investment Day´, in Jakarta, Monday.

According to Edy, a positive trend of the Indonesian economy, characterized by the continued growth of its gross domestic product (PDB) is not a guarantee that it will continue indefinitely.

In his opinion, in order to strengthen the fundamental base of the national economy, the tourism sector needs to be developed. "Indonesia must be careful. But we are optimistic, in 2014 it will be slightly better," he said.

Director General of Tourism Destination Development, The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), Firmansyah, said that Tanjung Lesung has become a tourist destination national wise as well as International wise. "It has a high potential, investors can take advantage of this opportunity."

Other destinations that have also become a consideration by the Indonesian tourism sector, are Lagoi Bay in the Riau Islands, Mandalika in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), the Gulf of Mekaki in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Lake Toba in North Sumatra, Sabang in Aceh, and other tourism destinations.
