Jakarta (B2B) - Indonesia menominasikan Menteri Mari Pangestu pada jabatan Direktur Jenderal World Tourism Organization (WTO) untuk menggantikan Direktur Jenderal, Pascal Lamy, yang masa jabatannya berakhir pada 31 Agustus 2013.
Menurut ketentuan WTO untuk pengangkatan Direktur Jenderal, periode nominasi akan ditutup pada 31 Desember 2012.
Berdasarkan siaran pers dari WTO yang dilansir 24 Desember 2012, sebuah pertemuan Dewan Umum resmi akan diadakan pada 29 Januari 2013. Proses seleksi akan menyimpulkan dengan keputusan Dewan Umum selambat-lambatnya sebelum Mei 31 Desember 2013.
Dalam perombakan kabinet pada Oktober 2011, Presiden menempatkannya di posisi kementerian yang baru, sebagai Menteri Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif. Sebelumnya, ia bertanggung jawab sebagai Menteri Perdagangan Indonesia dari Oktober 2004 hingga Oktober 2011.
Jakarta (B2B) - Indonesia nominated Minister Mari Pangestu for the post of WTO Director-General to succeed the current Director-General, Pascal Lamy, whose term of office expires on 31 August 2013.
According to the WTO procedures for appointment of Director-General, the nomination period will close on December 31, 2012.
Based on the news release of WTO published December 24, 2012, a formal General Council meeting will be held on January 29, 2013. The selection process will conclude with a decision by the General Council no later than May 31, 2013.
In a cabinet reshuffle in October 2011, President was appointed to the newly-created position of minister of Tourism and Creative Economy. Previously, she was responsible as Minister of Trade of Indonesia from October 2004 to October 2011.
